Story
I>Shards of Honor is the novel in which Lois McMaster Bujold introduced the science-fiction world to Barrayar and Aral Vorkosigan, Beta Colony and Cordelia Naismith. From this beginning the author has created a multigenerational saga spanning time as well as space. Bujold is generally recognized as the current exemplar of the character-based science-fiction adventure story.

The story shows it's age. The series as whole is still worth it. Better than some from the same time

Better cut Ginny out of the last 2 chapters
Reviewed: 06-22-24
The daily prophet chapter was too long and without the humor of the previous chapters. The bad narration of Ginny in that chapter made it too hard to listen. The excessive audio effects didn't make it any better.

I still prefer regular audio book experience. Too much sound effects make it harder to actually understand the story. Thus only 4 stars for performance.

Story
As management reels from the unexpected conclusion of the seventh level, the surviving crawlers stumble onto the eighth and find themselves scattered. It’s a map based on Earth’s final days before the collapse, where ethereal, intangible ghosts of humanity go about their lives, oblivious of the impending doom. Living amongst these ghosts are monsters based in Earth lore. “Legendary” creatures tied to the geographical location they inhabit. Each team of crawlers is given a task: Find and capture six of these beasts.

I'm an avid fantasy reader. Love stories with long arc and a touch of humor. Love great long stories with consistent and believable magic systems. Spellmonger and Harry Potter are two such examples. I also usually do not enjoy YA and prefer something that's more sophisticated.
I don't play games at all. I know what they're about but I just don't like gaming.
If you are like me, I think you will enjoy DCC as much as I did. It's well written and the performance is superb.

Story
A man. His ex-girlfriend's cat. A sadistic game show unlike anything in the universe: a dungeon crawl where survival depends on killing your prey in the most entertaining way possible. In a flash, every human-erected construction on Earth - from Buckingham Palace to the tiniest of sheds - collapses in a heap, sinking into the ground. The buildings and all the people inside have all been atomized and transformed into the dungeon: an 18-level labyrinth filled with traps, monsters, and loot.

Also, Nan Pilgrim is Deanna Wynne Jones.
