About this listen

Since its publication, Quidditch Through the Ages has been one of the most popular books in the Hogwarts library. Read by Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and many more, it is the essential guide to the wizarding world's favourite game.

Charting its journey from Queerditch Marsh in the eleventh century to the sophisticated sport of today, Quidditch Through the Ages will show you the moments of exhilarating triumph and crushing despair (such as supporting the Chudley Cannons) that are part of the game of Quidditch.

Learn all about the history and rules of the game, from some of the 700 fouls (and which World Cup Final saw all of them committed) to the difference between a Transylvanian Tackle and a Woollongong Shimmy.

Narrated by People's Choice Awards Winner and BAFTA nominated Andrew Lincoln, best known for his role on The Walking Dead, the audiobook edition also includes more than an hour and a half of bonus content.

The audiobook edition includes more than an hour and a half of bonus content. This includes the history of the Quidditch World Cup Final and commentary on the 2014 World Cup Final from the perspective of Rita Skeeter (Annette Badland) and Ginny Potter (Imogen Church). This additional content was written by J.K. Rowling and is also available to read on wizarding world.com.

The shelves of the Hogwarts Library are also home to many more fascinating books. If you have enjoyed Quidditch Through the Ages you might want to check out some of its other treasures: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and The Tales of Beedle the Bard.

Featured Article: The top 100 series of all time

The feeling of discovering that your favorite new listen is actually the start of a series is euphoric. That you can immediately hit play and re-enter a beloved new world, or love story, or era from history is a gift to the devoted listener. But how to pick just 100 of these unique and immersive listening journeys? We defined a series as having a minimum of three books, and—after some debate—we decided the titles had to be anchored in fiction. From YA to horror to historical fiction, from fresh voices to seminal tales, hours of discovery await.

A fantastic production!

Andrew Lincoln’s reading of this book was an absolute joy to listen to, but it was the beautifully dramatized 2014 Quidditch World Cup coverage that I enjoyed the most. As a long time member of Pottermore relished reading those Daily Prophet articles as they were posted back in 2014. To have this small chapter of the Harry Potter story finally produced in an audio format is something I thought I’d never see. Now if we could just get an audio adaptation of The Cursed Child.

Nothing describes this better than “Joyful”

I have never written a review on an audible title before, even thought I’ve read many but this stood out to me on a number of levels. I grew up with the Harry Potter books and ever since I was a kid I dreamed of playing Quidditch. This book is truly remarkably done. I can’t remember the last time I listened to a book and just couldn’t stop smiling! Andrew Lincoln is phenomenal, the background noises are super crisp, and you get to learn the history of one of the greatest fictional sports ever! I could not recommend this more to any HP fan or fantasy lover.

This really made me remember when Hermione gives Harry this book to get his mind off of his struggles, and that is exactly how I felt when reading this. Like I could get lost in the history for hours..

Thank you JK for making this gem and for Andrew for reciting it!!!

Really great! Like studying at Hogwarts!

...with a field trip!

Andrew Lincoln narrates the contents of Quidditch Through the Ages beautifully. It felt like I was studying for an elective course at Hogwarts (which I'm sure Harry and Ron would have Os in if given the chance and Hermione would have heartidly disaproved of.) And to top it off we get to take a field trip to the 2014 Quidditch World Cup. What a treat!

absolutely fantastic

the first part is a brief history of not only quidditch but wizarding sports through the ages.
the second bit is a commentary on each match of the 2014 quidditch world cup ending on a play by play color commentary of the final match.

absolutely fantastic listen that leaves me wanting even more glimpses into the wizarding world I love so much.

The end is the best part

I didn't enjoy the history of Quidditch as much as I thought I would. But, the quidditch final with Ginny Potter as commentator at the end of the book made it a worthy listen.
