Story
A peaceful Minnesota town, where crime is something that just doesn’t happen, is about to face its worst nightmare. A young boy disappears. There are no witnesses, no clues — only a note, cleverly taunting, casually cruel. Has a cold-blooded kidnapper struck? Or is this the reawakening of a long-quiet serial killer?

I didn't enjoy this book
Reviewed: 05-01-23
This book was like watching a slow moving Hallmark movie.. Way too much time on the romance (without any actual "romance ") . There is not enough time on the story. i kept listening because I wanted to see who had the boy. The end was terrible, rushed, and disappointing.

Story
Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

I am a huge DK fan. I usually love his books and get wrapped up in the story. Unfortunately that was not the case this time. I think this could have been a short story. This book was wordy and way to have on in the moment context. while not awful, certainly not one of the greats from this author.

i looked forward to this book. I have been hooked on this series. That said, I almost stopped partway thru the first chapter. Of all the startling and stressful things she has put in her books this opening was too much and unnecessarily shocking.

Weeks before NYPD Detective Michael Bennett is to marry his longtime love, Mary Catherine, an assassin announces his presence in the city with a string of grisly murders. Each victim is a young woman. And each has been killed in a manner as precise as it was gruesome. Tasked with working alongside the FBI, Bennett and his gung-ho new partner uncover multiple cold-case homicides across the country that fit the same distinctive pattern—proving the perpetrator they seek is as experienced at ending lives as he is at evading detection.

I felt like this story was thrown together. Not much build up to a disappointing climax. None of the comfort of reconnecting with old friend that I usually get from this series.

Story
Academy Award nominee Samuel L. Jackson ( Pulp Fiction) rocks this mock bedtime story, capturing a hilarious range of emotions as the voice of a father struggling to get his child to sleep. Go the F**k to Sleep is a bedtime book for parents who live in the real world, where a few snoozing kitties and cutesy rhymes don’t always send a toddler sailing blissfully off to dreamland.
