Story
Judith Potts is 77 years old and blissfully happy. She lives on her own in a faded mansion just outside Marlow, there’s no man in her life to tell her what to do or how much whisky to drink, and to keep herself busy she sets crosswords for The Times newspaper. One evening, while out swimming in the Thames, Judith witnesses a brutal murder. The local police don’t believe her story, so she decides to investigate for herself and is soon joined in her quest by Suzie, a salt-of-the-earth dog-walker, and Becks, the prim and proper wife of the local vicar.

Story
It’s 1343 and Jeanne de Clisson is out for revenge. At forty-three, her perfect life—a loving husband, three young children, and two castles in the French countryside—shatters when Phillip VI, the King of France, arrests and beheads her husband for treachery. There’s no evidence and no trial—only the execution. The nobles are shocked. The paranoid king is relieved. And Jeanne…Jeanne wants the king’s head on a pike.

I enjoyed this book more than I expected to. it is well written and researched. The narrator was excellent. As an anthropology major, archeology minor, I enjoy reading, researching, and finding hidden gems like this book.
The Historical Epilog I found rather biased and a bit bigoted. While there were certainly other ethnic people in Europe, particularly large port/trading cities, they made up less than 1%. (Estimated)
The author's assertions about all history being recorded by or dictated by "White Men," is short-sighted considering the the time, location, education availabilities, and access to resources needed to write something down.
Most history from this story's time, long before and after was done by monastic entities who were of course, males. Most monks/clergy could read and had access to items and storage needed to record Historical events.
To apply modern views or consensus that we now agree are sexist, misogynistic, prejudiced, is to judge a people using standards and ideals that simple did not exsist and would not come along for centuries.

Story
It’s all Tinkler’s fault. If it weren’t for his obsession with the 1970s band Black Dog, none of this would have happened. The members of Black Dog performed an infamous publicity stunt on Halig Island: they burned a million dollars on an enormous bonfire. But the stunt backfired, splitting the band for good and increasing the value of their final, recalled album tenfold.

Story
Thinking that she has been summoned by German immigrant Agnes Otto to usher a new life into the world, midwife Sarah Brandt is greeted by the news of an untimely death instead. It seems that Agnes' beautiful younger sister, Gerda, had fallen into the life of a "charity girl". Caught up in the false glamour of the city's nightlife, she would trade her company and her favors for lavish gifts. And now she was dead - victim, no doubt, of one of her "gentlemen friends".

Fun, quirky, well written, with great narration! What else could anyone want?
The author succeeded from page one in developing a like of the main character as he struggled to find himself, literally.
She kept it going with witty writing, great secondary characters and humor. Not silliness but we'll thought out, life kicks you in the ass sometimes, type humor.
The narrator was awesome! Kept the characters real and the story flowing.
L.G. Estrella, watch your back! There's a new kid in town and her name is Caitlan!

Story
The beloved King Ik is dead, and there was barely time to check his pulse before the royal throne was supporting the suspiciously shapely backside of an impostor pretending to be Ik's beautiful, long-lost daughter. With the land's heroic hunks busy drooling all over themselves, there's only one man left who can save the kingdom of Jenair. His name is Dungar Loloth, a rural blacksmith turned innkeeper, a surly hermit, and an all-around nobody oozing toward middle age, compensating for a lack of height, looks, charm, and tact with guts and an attitude.

Story
Stella is enjoying life as an almost student, or at least she is until a man falls from the sky right in front of her, leaving a big old hole in the pavement for Manchester Council to fill. The obvious question of how he ended up in the sky in the first place has no obvious answers, which is where The Stranger Times come in. This isn't just the hunt for another story though. Dark powers think Stella might have been involved and the only way she and the team can prove her innocence is to find out what the hell is really going on.

I love this series and C.K.'s books. Unfortunately, like many writers, especially European ones, he feels the need to throw in left-leaning commentary and loves to toss snide, incorrect, often unnecessary, comments about the U.S.
Like many books, I simply overlook or ignore this practice and enjoy the witty writing, laugh out loud, and wait for the next book by C.K.!

Story
No stranger to fear since meeting the unhuman Inspector Hobbes, Andy Caplet fears getting fired from his reporting job (again). His main concern, though, is a shady property developer who has designs on Sorenchester Common, and more annoyingly on his wife. Perhaps a trip to the mountains will help him relax, but this proves even more perilous with foul weather, inedible food, brigands, and a terrifying cruise. Fortunately, mountain leopards, Yetis and Flossy, the yak, take a shine to Andy.
