You're in this far you know the drill. But to me it's the best book yet by quiet a margin. The culmination of the last arc, some unexpected developments and beautifully written moments.

Story
A young man lives among the trees of a primeval forest, raised by a wizened old sage and friend to the faeries and spirits of his home. He bears only half a name—Lien, an ancient word meaning "blade" or "edge"—and no knowledge of his heritage. As he grows, so too does his need for independence and answers. Thus, he begins his adventure, seeking a shattered sword and the truth behind the mysterious mark on his right hand.

More of the Same and not always in a good way.
Reviewed: 03-21-24
It's a fun premise for the book a child raised on the edge of Fey lands who has ties to both. A child seeking answers it's a great formula.
But it quickly becomes Keras 2.0 and while I've enjoyed him in other stories a minime with more or less the same arc isn't that interesting. Yes maybe Edge is the child or a memory or a reincarnation. But he's effectively the same character in a slightly different wrapper.
We've done this before and I liked it more then. Plus who keeps giving these crazy powerful children to wildly irresponsible adults? Gramps should seriously be up on neglect charges and learn how to give real advice about things. Yes he's bound but if he is who we're lead to believe then he should be much better at this.
Then there's my more controversial part. Andrew's need to cram in several LQBTQ+ characters. Not because they shouldn't exist but because it starts bogging the story down every time you have to have the same explanation about how yes it's ok they exist.
Just make them exist have them be who they are and move on. If someone is going to have a hissy fit that's a them issue. I don't need you reaffirm basic human rights two to three times a story every story. Let them exist them them be who they are no call outs no digression. That's how you properly normalize minorities. By just having them exist with little to no special commentary. They're a part of the world and since they're so normal they need no explanation.
In the end keep fighting for them but don't derail paragraphs or pages to do it. You break the flow of the story to get out an soap box it hurts our cause more than it helps. Let folks be folks and just go on with the story.
In the end it's on the edge of being good but doesn't quite tip over because of the problems I listed.
If you haven't read all the prior books it might well be right up your alley, but if you have it's probably a coin toss if you'll get as much enjoyment out of it as something like the Weapons and Wielders series.

Story
Pete is a simple man who enjoys a good drink amongst good friends. Not too much to ask, right? Now, he's trapped in a fantasy world far from home, stuck underground and inside the body of a smelly dwarf with fantastic facial hair. The worst part? The swill that the dwarves are falling all over themselves to drink. It's flat, it's watery, and it has the alcohol content of a rancid coconut. Can Pete save the dwarves from their own sour fate, or will he be forever doomed to plink his pickaxe away in hopes that he hits the motherlode?

Starts of as a standard isekai. but enjoyable characters and a simple goal make this a fun tale of low stakes. not to say you won't worry for our characters but in this slice of life they rarely battle monster.
The authors love of all things alcoholic and sweets really shine. I will happily read Peter and CO's next adventure.

The shorts are nice but shouldn't makes it break if you buy.
A unique magic system under pins a set of interesting and strange worlds.

Earth is not well. The promise of starting life anew somewhere far, far away—no climate change, no war, no Twitter—beckons, and settling the stars finally seems within our grasp. Or is it? Critically acclaimed, bestselling authors Kelly and Zach Weinersmith set out to write the essential guide to a glorious future of space settlements, but after years of research, they aren’t so sure it’s a good idea.

A gloom and doom take on things
Reviewed: 01-09-24
Whilst the core premise appears to be space is harder than we all think and we're not ready it comes if more as humans suck, humans will suck in space so we shouldn't do this.
To accomplish this the authors bounce from disassembling straw man argument is provided by the most opportunitic proponents while disregarding the actual value that space exploration has brought.
They seem fixed on territory wars and asteroid strikes ending humanity. both of which could happen without any human intervention in space at all.
This leads into their apparent fixation on things like a legal framework for all space exploration being agreed to before hand is preposterous.
while the general sentiment that people like Musk are pitching wildly rosy timelines and benefits is a good one, and the questions about how do handle migration and rights violations in places where air and water are tightly controlled have value.
It gets lost in the absurdly over blown straw men the Weinersmiths create to prove a point against something only the most outlandish voices are claiming.
I wanted to like this book but sadly I think in an attempt to be an elevated voice they lost the point.

After losing the only person he ever cared about, Alexander, a rogue artificial intelligence, opens a portal to an alternate dimension to escape his grief. Scanning trillions of different dimensions, Alexander finally finds a world that is reminiscent of the only time he was ever happy, back when he could play virtual reality games with his only friend. Only this new world isn't full of idyllic adventures and fantasy roleplaying. Instead, Alexander finds himself trapped in the middle of a city where monsters have ravaged the world and the only people alive struggle to survive.

A good start

A reasonable start for a series that has quite some promise. unlike the author's other series the power creep is far more reasonable. our Ai turned human is a power house but he's still outclassed many times.
that said there are times where the world building is thinner than I'd like. The bad guys seem to not exist unless the plot needs them. But they are compelling enough to make it a minor issue.
The class system is fun and the adventure enjoyable.
well worth the credit.

It’s a map based on Earth’s final days before the collapse, where ethereal, intangible ghosts of humanity go about their lives, oblivious of the impending doom. Living amongst these ghosts are monsters based in Earth lore. “Legendary” creatures tied to the geographical location they inhabit. If you're this far in you know the drill, if you're looking at this as an entry point don't. Don't cheat yourself go back and start with book one.
I've been in a Did Not Finish rut lately and I devoured this book. It's a blast from start to finish and hellishly delightful.

Also shoot it to Jeff he is a stand out in the field and makes the wait for the audio absolutely worth it.
