As someone born in the early 1990’s outside of the US, Enron was a name I knew but knew nothing about. This book tells a gripping and detailed story about how it all went wrong. Wonderfully written and flawlessly narrated. 5 stars!

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. I’ve followed a plant based diet for about 5 years, and I’ve never felt this well-equipped with information before. I know that I am already making better food choices and I have been enjoying some incredible plant-based meals recently. Everything tastes better when you know exactly how good it is for you.
Highly recommend to anyone looking to up their health game!

Story
Anna was never anything like those "real" runners on telly, but when she read about New Zealand’s 3,000-kilometer-long Te Araroa Trail, she began to wonder...perhaps being a "real" runner was overrated. Maybe she could just run it anyway? The Pants of Perspective is a witty, colorful, and at times painfully raw account of a journey to the edge of what a woman believes herself to be capable of. It is a coming-of-age story that will lead you on a roller-coaster ride through fear, vulnerability, courage, and failure.

I’m from New Zealand and I like running. So I expected to like this book. For the most part, I thought it was really enjoyable. It’s a light-hearted read which left me feeling good about my home and my people. The author did a really good job of narrating with tons of energy and enthusiasm too.
All of that being said, I was hoping for more trail/running talk and less focus on the author’s long-distance ‘does he love me?’ narrative. Also, the pronunciation of some Māori place names did my head in a little bit (but that won’t affect most listeners) though I accept that it’s a foreign language to the author.
Overall, I enjoyed listening to this book and I’d recommend to others interested in a light-hearted read/listen about New Zealand. You definitely do not need to be a running fan to enjoy this book.

I didn’t really know what to expect from this book. I’ve previously listened to Born to Run, and picked up this book as a result (with minimal forethought and research!)
What followed was the one of the most eye-opening and captivating listens I’ve experienced. Chris McDougall has, once again, charted new territory in the realm of human potential and told the story in his unique blend of concise and varied writing (yes, the two can co-exist).
I highly, highly, highly recommend this book. Definitely an early candidate for my 2022 book of the year.

Epic tale of will power, hustle, and determination

North is an incredible story of total dedication & commitment. Jurker and jLu did a great job of detailing their FKT (fastest known time) attempt on the Appalachian Trail. Since it’s narrated by them, I felt like I was in the room listening to them and really able to get a sense of what it must have been like - they left nothing on the table.
Much like Scott Jurek’s first book, Eat & Run, North is an acknowledgement of what the human body is capable of. The answer? Absolutely anything with the right mindset and support.
