Story
The Galactics arrived with their Battle fleet in 2052. Rather than being exterminated under a barrage of hell-burners, Earth joined a vast Empire that spanned the Milky Way. Our only worthwhile trade goods are our infamous mercenary legions, elite troops we sell to the highest alien bidder. In the third book in the series, James McGill is deployed on another alien world. His third interstellar tour is different in every way. Rather than meeting up with a primitive society, this time he’s headed to an advanced world.

I’m listening to this whole series again, in order. I enjoy it. It’s popcorn, flavored like Starship Troopers.
The reader is good. The stories are fun. It’s my guilty pleasure. It’s not practical, I don’t learn anything. :-)

Yeah, I have listened to it a few times already. It's an exercise in limitless story telling.
What other book might you compare The Adventures of Tom Stranger, Interdimensional Insurance Agent to and why?
maybe Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Both have a nice disregard for reality. in a fun way.
Which scene was your favorite?
chuck Norris. there are a lot of good "scenes"
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
nope. not a tearjerker in this book.
Any additional comments?
loved it. keep doing it.

Tough to get through. Feministy
Reviewed: 09-02-16
Seems like it's actually written for feminist women about castrated males or something. I can't stomach it. Every person in it is female for some reason. Why? (Why not? Because that's not how life is.)
I am about 2 hours in. It is almost offensive it's so distasteful to me. If I I finish it and happen to like it, I'll change the review. For my sanity I might not though.

Story
In the 20th century Earth sent probes, transmissions, and welcoming messages to the stars. Unfortunately, someone noticed. The Galactics arrived with their battle fleet in 2052. Rather than being exterminated under a barrage of hell-burners, Earth joined their vast Empire. Swearing allegiance to our distant alien overlords wasn't the only requirement for survival. We also had to have something of value to trade, something that neighboring planets would pay their hard-earned credits to buy. As most of the local worlds were too civilized to have a proper army, the only valuable service Earth could provide came in the form of soldiers....

Story
Herodotus is not only the father of the art and the science of historical writing, but also one of the Western tradition's most compelling storytellers. In tales such as that of Gyges, who murders Candaules, the king of Lydia, and usurps his throne and his marriage bed, thereby bringing on, generations later, war with the Persians, Herodotus laid bare the intricate human entanglements at the core of great historical events.

Really cool
Reviewed: 03-09-16
To be honest I used this book to go to sleep to each night. But, wow, there is some really interesting stuff that happened way back in the day. Who knew? And who knew that Herodotus did the legwork to compile such an intriguing bunch of stories.
Did you know an Egyptian sailed around Africa way back then?
How about 2.7 million people in Xerxes army when he invaded Greece?
What was potentially embarrassing truth behind why Troy was sacked?
He paints a colorful picture of an era that was remarkable. I wish we had books of histories written like this for all of the world.
Really cool. Really.

After being out of contact with the younger worlds for so many years, humanity is shocked when a huge ship appears at the edge of the solar system. Our outdated navy investigates, both curious and fearful. What they learn from the massive vessel shocks the planet.

Story
Ellen J. Langer, Harvard professor of psychology, determines that the mindless following of routine and other automatic behaviors lead to much error, pain, and a predetermined course of life. In this thought provoking audio book, her research has been "translated" for the lay listener. With anecdotes and metaphors, Langer explains how the mindless (as opposed to the mindful) develop mindsets of categories, associations, habits of thought born of repetition in childhood and throughout schooling.
