Story
Steve and Ingrid have escaped the clutches of Athena, but Steve is still learning, both about his place in the world, and his capabilities...not to mention those of the creatures that surround him. Ingrid, too, must find her way in the new reality she finds her world has become, and the pair need a plan. Fortunately, Ingrid’s a lot brighter than Steve, and she’s had plenty of time to plan, to observe, and to build up a festering hatred of her "betters". Steve’s going recruiting—and harvesting. Greece is in for a hell of a surprise.

Lots of preach, notice story
Reviewed: 08-07-24
This series gives the impression that the author has no idea what to write about, and so just starts spawning dialog after dialog rehashing any and all of the wise Leftist tidbits he'd learned growing up. not saying any of its wrong, but I don't want to listen to his mom talking for 128 hours over two books. Or hear some entitled hot chic throw a tantrum about it not being fair that she doesn't get to try and be killed just like the hero because of equal rights or whatever (even though nobody carried his unentitled butt).
I don't think I'll be continuing the series. The litrpg concept is neat but is done much better in the authors other book.

Story
Ajax is one of Earth’s most elite, a Paladin pilot, and trusted to fly the most advanced starfighters humanity ever produced. His carrier and the rest of the fleet have fallen back, the recent damage from the elven betrayal making it impossible to stay in the fight. He knows they’ll return, and they’ll treat this world to the same kind of plasma bombardment that the elves had inflicted on Mother Earth. The real problem for Ajax, though, is that he’s parachuting down onto it now, his arm broken.

I loved this story, and I hope it becomes a series. I didn't actually realize this was litrpg until a ways in and it was cleverly disguised. Very nice take.

Story
Jacques McKeown is the most celebrated author of star-pilot fiction in the galaxy. He's rich, famous, and living in luxury, and his universe-wide fanbase eagerly awaits any news of his next book. There's just one small hitch. He's not Jacques McKeown. He's Dashford Pierce, star pilot and con artist, and if only the impatient calls from his publisher were the worst of his problems. There's also the last vestige of the Henderson crime gang, trouble brewing in the retired star-pilot community, and a small matter of somebody trying to kill him.

I'm not sure what happened between book two and three, but while 1 and 2 where both good, book #3 went above and beyond. Honestly, I'd be disappointed if the story ended here. Book four would be another complete change but for the good.

Space travel just isn't what it used to be. With the invention of quantum teleportation, space heroes aren't needed anymore. When one particularly unlucky ex-adventurer masquerades as famous pilot and hate figure Jacques McKeown, he's sucked into an ever-deepening corporate and political intrigue. Between space pirates, adorable deadly creatures, and a missing fortune in royalties, saving the universe was never this difficult!

I like how there was quite a bit to this story without overcomplicating it. The title really has nothing to do with the story itself, though, unless the galaxy is defined as a few individuals. But it's a fun title, nonethless.

Story
The Aftermath of a stunning victory—especially an unexpected, complete, and final victory—should be high-fives all around, listening to politicians give boring congratulatory speeches, and a well-deserved rest for the Merry Band of Pirates. Yes, the galaxy is still a freakin' mess, but that is nothing new, and for a change, that can be someone else's problem. Until, you know, something really bad happens, and only the Pirates can deal with the problem... Or not.

Not the best and no escalation
Reviewed: 04-11-24
I love the series, but he probably should have stopped at the last book unless this starts to get better. To explain this book, let me say first that my Audible player was having trouble with its sleep timer, which meant I was jumping around having to find where I left off multiple times, and it was almost impossible due to the lack of escalation and all the redundancy. One scene about him eating bacon at the beginning sounded just like a similar one in the middle which was like the bacon scene at the end. I ended up listening to every chapter at least twice because the lack of linearity and unique situations or progress in the story made it impossible to tell where I was in the story.
Another odd thing is the whole story is explained near the beginning, and the rest of the story is just filling in the details. I'm not done yet, but I sure hope there's a big twist at the end or else I could have probably listened to just the first few and last fee chapters.

One long argument
Reviewed: 03-12-24
I've generally been enjoying this author's books. He's tried to take the best parts of Expiditionary Force and apply them to a new story with pretty good success. It took him a little bit to find that AI analog, but eventually got there and managed to make it his own.
However, I'm having a hard time getting through this book in particular. Every chapter has basically turned into some set of characters arguing, bashing and generally ripping into each other. At this point, the main character's "broodsmate" seems to have no other reason for existing in the series other than to be one of these source of negativety. Shes made more stabs toward the main character than any of his enemies could even dream. The antagonists are almost washed into the background since she and a few other characters seems to fit the role better.
And I get that the author was hoping this would come across as funny banter, just like a beer can AI insulting a monkey soldier. But I'm having a hard time hearing anything but constant bitching.

I enjoyed the story a lot because I was able to look past the rewriting of real history. Given that this is a story about rewriting history, I figured I can pretend this took place in an alternate reality. But I have to dock points for that being in here and me having to escape the story to rationalize it that way. See the other reviews for examples.

In 2059, two vastly different groups of people portrayed by the compelling trio of Brendan Fraser (Academy Award winner), Luke Kirby (Emmy Award winner), and Vanessa Sears (Dora Award winner) undergo cryonic suspension. While their bodies are frozen, their minds, still active and awake, are uploaded into a massive quantum computer. The first group are all astronauts, about to leave Earth on a one-way interstellar colonization mission. The second group consists of convicted murderers and volunteers who elect to serve their sentences in a virtual-reality prison.
