About this listen

Jacques McKeown is the most celebrated author of star-pilot fiction in the galaxy. He's rich, famous, and living in luxury, and his universe-wide fanbase eagerly awaits any news of his next book.

There's just one small hitch.

He's not Jacques McKeown.

He's Dashford Pierce, star pilot and con artist, and if only the impatient calls from his publisher were the worst of his problems. There's also the last vestige of the Henderson crime gang, trouble brewing in the retired star-pilot community, and a small matter of somebody trying to kill him.

As his web of lies falls apart and the crosshairs zero in, Pierce has no other option but to take one last adventure. An odyssey to the very edge of known space to finally answer the question that has twisted up his life for five years: Just who is Jacques McKeown?

I nice wrap up...with potentially more story. But I liked the twist. Croshaw is a good author and I enjoy all his books :)

unexpected! love it

One of his better works, tied up the story nicely. Was funny without being obnoxiously self aware.

Solid snarky comedy.

Loved the story. Would love more, but it has been neatly wrapped up. Time for me to realisten to the trilogy.

Absolutely loved it

Is this supposed to be trilogy? There is clearly left room for more. Loved it. Great third instalment. I laughed out loud so many times.

Unexpected but awesome

What makes this a great story, and an overall amazing saga, are the twists and turns throughout. The author, who I've been falling for many years, understands that while having a main goal for the majority of a tale can help with structure, it's far more exciting when the status quo constantly changes and evolves.
People who were allies or enemies switch based on reasonable turns in the plot, and the character's motivations and drives are realistic, even if the world they live in isn't.
Like always, Yahtzee delivers yet another classic onto the ever growing collection he's both written and voice since his first release, and I can barely wait for the next one.

Fantastic writing and superb storytelling.

this book successfully makes fun of a huge number of sci-fi tropes while also having laugh out loud moments.

the story is a little bit all over the place, until you realize it pretty much follows the structure of a Star Trek episode, with setting up the story, then two parallel story tracks, plot twists and then wonderfully contrived resolution.

I found myself bookmarking and making little recorded Snippets of some of my favorite sections. I'vme been telling my friends about the really good parts over lunch!

I will follow Queen Zetraxia to the end of the galaxy

Yahtzees stuff always has a nice flow to it. I feel like I can just listen to for an absurd amount of time without realizing it

I really like this book

There is a bit of sexual innuendo that, while funny, was a bit much… but, other than that, I really enjoyed the ride. Lots of twists and turns. Lots of witty dialogue, and very imaginative metaphors… All the good stuff.

Very entertaining conclusion

Wonderful book, I can not recommend this book and the trilogy as a whole enough. It is a wonderful listen as are the other books written by Yahtzee.

Wonderful conclusion

Finding this series was like slogging through the dirt, kicking over a rock and finding a hundred bucks. It's campy done right, unpredictable and engaging.

As for this particular book it holds up like all the rest with a wacky plot and great humor. The dry tone of the performance makes it even better. Thank you for a great story.

Extremely Entertaining
