Story
Inspired by The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning, this book will light a fire under your untidy ass with humor and helpful organizing tips that you’ll actually want to use. Like a delightfully foul-mouthed best friend, this book dishes out the funny, unpretentious advice you need to hear most. You’ll discover how to deal with your sh*t like there’s no tomorrow, live in the moment without the f*cking mess, and make your life and your eventual death a hell of a lot easier.

Getting real about decluttering before I die
Reviewed: 08-14-24
Sadly, too many F bombs and other cuss words were unnecessarily sprinkled throughout the otherwise very useful ideas. I assumed the milder word in the title just meant to highlight the reality of the book's subject matter, which I could live with. However, once I started the book it was immediately evident the author could have gotten the point across with just as much conviction without all the unnecessary cussing. I realize I could simply choose to pass on the book altogether, but really wanted to hear the ideas and info to motivate me on my decluttering journey. I found the ridiculous use of F words to be distracting from the otherwise positive message of the book.

While the world seems to be in love with the idea of tiny houses and minimalism, many of us simply can't purge it all and start from nothing. Yet a home with too much stuff is difficult to maintain, so where do we begin? Add in paralyzing emotional attachments and constant life challenges, and it can feel almost impossible to make real decluttering progress.

This book was so helpful and practical. It gave me exactly what I needed to break through the "clutter paralysis" and finally start somewhere! I so enjoyed the author's personal anicdotes. They hit so close to home and were such a liberating relief to know I'm not alone in my clutter pathology. Thank you so much Ms. White! I wish you lived next door to me.

After the end of her marriage, Kate Granger has retreated to her parents' home on Lake Superior to pull herself together - only to discover the body of a murdered woman washed into the shallows. A Good Summer Read
Reviewed: 08-20-18
Just what I needed to relax and enjoy some quiet time while working on a project. A good story where some things were predictable, but more things were not. The characters were realistic and relatable. Not so corny as a Hallmark movie, but just a good story. By the way, I rather prefer corny over violence, greed and explicate sex so if you do too then you'll enjoy this easy going story with just enough drama to reflect real life.

Story
Miracle Springs is a place of healing. Strangers flock there hoping that the natural hot springs, five-star cuisine, and renowned spa can cure their ills. And, if none of that works, they often find their way to Miracle Books, where, over a fresh-baked scone from the Gingerbread House bakery, they exchange their stories with owner Nora Pennington in return for a carefully chosen book. That's Nora's special talent: prescribing the perfect novel to ease a person's deepest pain and lighten their heaviest burden.

Elle is a survivor. She’s managed to piece together a solid life from a childhood of broken memories and fairy tales her mom told her to explain away bad dreams. But weekly visits to her mother still fill Elle with a paralyzing fear she can’t explain. It’s just another of so many unanswered questions she grew up with in a family estranged by silence and secrets.

Story
Lo Blacklock, a journalist who writes for a travel magazine, has just been given the assignment of a lifetime: a week on a luxury cruise with only a handful of cabins. The sky is clear, the waters calm, and the veneered, select guests jovial as the exclusive cruise ship, the Aurora, begins her voyage in the picturesque North Sea. At first Lo's stay is nothing but pleasant: The cabins are plush, the dinner parties are sparkling, and the guests are elegant. But as the week wears on, frigid winds whip the deck, and gray skies fall.

Great story, impeccable narration. There were times I sat parked in my car in parking lots or my driveway so I could hear what happened next. I took off one star because there were too many harsh swear words that could have been toned down, but that's just me I suppose. The story itself was excellent.
