I tried to really enjoy this book as it reminded me Boxy T., but it fails to deliver on a couple things that it's just hard to overlook. This book is a slice of life tone but it doesn't come close. How supporting characters say and do wildly unrealistic things for literally no reason. How can a person be kidnapped and do a complete 180 on their attitude and THEN essentially runs right back to the person that kidnapped them. I may or may not continue this series unfortunately.

Wasn't quite what I had expected but it wrapped up in true Sanderson fashion. Somewhat patiently waiting for arc 2.

I like the fact that this book changes perspective so often. We don't have to listen to someone mash the "I win" button in every match. I also like that it still changes from past to present. There's still mysteries that remain from book 1 and I can't wait to hear them all concluded. Don't listen to the negative reviews of you're a true litrpg or progression reader/listener. This one is a surprisingly good one, considering it mashed together classes and cultivation with a ton of world building details comparing everything. Thoroughly enjoyed.

Than book 1! I love this series! Minus the gigantic cliffhanger we were left to gnaw on until we get book 3. Keep them coming! Thank you for the awesome performance Nick, you beast.

As long as you can get past the issues and complications that come with having demons as summons of the MC - you'll love this series. Another awesome addition to the series and another great performance by the SBT.

I love this series. I blasted through this one in a single day. The ending was a bit.... Forced, but nonetheless enjoyable. I hope there are many more books to come with John Sutton! Michael Kramer killed it - fantastic narration as always.

This book was quite a bit of surprise. This author is extremely underrated. I thoroughly enjoyed this and immediately started book 2! I love the mystery. Not all questions were answered and the more we learn about the world and the mist watcher, the more questions we gave. Excellent narrator too!

Dren is definitely my spirit animal. Michael did a great job narrating, as per usual. One of the better isekai progt ssioj fantasies I've read. Wish book 2 was available!

For those of us who love litrpg, this one is a good one. It took about a third of the book to really get into it but once the progression really kicked in, I was hooked. The origin of the system is usually always asked and I really liked this authors take on it. The near seamless mix of old world technology mixed with new world magic was fascinating. I especially liked how our protagonist was still able to interact with magic. My biggest complaint is having to wait on book 2!

All these other reviews critiquing Nick are just sad. He's one of the absolute best narrators I've ever heard and I've listened to 600+ audiobooks. The narrator trifecta of litrpg is Nick, Jeff Hays and Andrea Parsneau. That all being said, the class and skill names are square bracketed in the book. It's clear to hear that when they are said. If that bothers you, you probably haven't listened or read to many litrpg. This is one of the better isekai litrpg out there. Listen to it if you enjoy this genre. You won't be disappointed.
