Story
At the end of three long wars, Bellusdeo is the last of her kind, the sole surviving female Dragon in the City of Elantra. When she appears one evening on the doorstep of her former roommate, Corporal Kaylin Neya, her demeanor is dreadful—more so than what’s expected of the Dragons’ notoriously tempestuous temperament.

Story
“You will find out that the margins are God’s favorite place to hang out.” Rev. Dr. Cari Willis, Chaplain to those on death row Through lived stories, Bishop Kenneth Carder candidly shares lessons learned from his experiences with people on the margins of society, including his own formation as the son of Appalachian tenant farmers and textile workers. By entering his life and ministry from poverty to privilege, from provincialism and segregation to beloved community, and from a religion of fear to a theology of liberating love, the reader is invited to widen the margins of their own ...

Reviewed: 01-10-25
I love this book. I heard Bishop Carter speak at a conference a year ago and was excited to hear more of his story in this book. I love the assertion that Jesus is with the marginalized, and thus, the margins ought to be centralized in our Kristian practice and witness. His story is told with humor, humility, and true confession; confession is one of the things the church sometimes misses. I believe that this book gives hope to all people. I think this model provides powerful insight into what it can look like to extend our table, Jesus‘s table, to those imprisoned, the aging/declining, ethnic minorities, and many others. Of course, the powerful summary statements at the end of each chapter help keep us on track. I recommend this book to church groups, pastors, and laity interested in powerful models of Christian discipleship.
The narration was surprisingly good as well. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but even speeding up the voice. It still sounded good and then AI narrator had good pronunciation and did not distract from the reading as sometimes AI voices do.

The narrator voice is nice and soothing and fits the topic and I look forward to reading more. I feel hopeful that EMDR can help me work through a lot of my unprocessed memories.

I have read this series countless times and love it! As I went through this time, it occurred to me that book by, cast in silence is probably my favorite! Justice is done, great things happen to some of my favorite characters and it’s just overall powerful. Cristine is a fabulous reader, as always! And now I’m going back to finish, rereading the rest of the series. Happy summer!

When Corporal Kaylin Neya is assigned front desk duty—a task hated by every Hawk—the only thing she can look forward to besides an endless stream of complaints is visits from a dotty old woman, because she always brings baked goods along with information passed on by her friends, who happen to be ghosts no one else can see. But then the old woman’s invisible friends have news about Severn Handred: his unusual weapon has caught their attention. Concerned, Kaylin accompanies the woman home because she has a few questions to ask these so-called ghosts.

I love how Michelle draws the scenes. Helen is of course one of my all-time favorites, and I love that some of the characters who usually remain a little quiet made more noise in this book! I don’t want to give away any spoilers so I won’t. I’m still waiting for the Love Connection, and those of you who are familiar with the series will know who and what I’m talking about. I love this series And the way it continues to grow and expand yet stay connected.

So begins Kaikeyi’s story. The only daughter of the kingdom of Kekaya, she is raised on legends of the gods: how they churned the vast ocean to obtain the nectar of immortality, how they vanquish evil and ensure the land of Bharat prospers, and how they offer powerful boons to the devout and the wise. Yet she watches as her father unceremoniously banishes her mother, listens as her own worth is reduced to how great a marriage alliance she can secure. And when she calls upon the gods for help, they never seem to hear.

David and Absalom
Reviewed: 10-03-22
I love the story, and the ability to enter a different culture and time. There were simply too many times when I could see the main character and her son, one of them anyway, mirroring the relationship of David and Absalom. A kingdom/queen-dom crumbles, because we don’t want to see people as they are. I know I know they often like to say love is blind. Perhaps it is, I I do wish for a better ending for main character. I look forward to more stories and perhaps a series the author might develop, or similar stories. Great debut novel!

Story
Heralded by the New York Times and Time as the couples therapy with the highest rate of success, Emotionally Focused Therapy works because it views the love relationship as an attachment bond. This idea, once controversial, is now supported by science, and has become widely popular among therapists around the world. In Hold Me Tight, Dr. Sue Johnson presents Emotionally Focused Therapy to the general public for the first time. Johnson teaches that the way to save and enrich a relationship is to reestablish safe emotional connection and preserve the attachment bond.

My husband and I listen to this together. We did some activities and bookmarked others that we might want to try as needed. I love all the quotes she used, and the examples were terrific. The rear was fabulous as well. One of my favorite things about Dr. Johnson is he talks about love in a way that could be seen as sappy but instead seems sincere and vital. It was a refreshing and enlightening lesson that I recommend.

Merry Christmas
Reviewed: 10-18-21
I was so excited to see this book come out. This is one of my favorite series in the world, and I come back to it often. The Christmas stories are always so rich. I love this series, and I love these side novelas that give us insight into what happens in the world of O’Reilly and Company in addition to what we learn in the larger bucks. I love the Irish Magic of the series. Mrs. Kincaid brings a bit of magic into them, which I appreciate. I can wish the doctors themselves were devout Christians, and I think he’s working on it and praying on it on their behalf. Happy fall, and it’s way too early, but merry Christmas!
