Disappointing
Reviewed: 07-12-23
This was one of those books that makes you wish you could unread it. The author did a stellar job creating a character that I originally liked and a story line that had me hooked and invested in. I continued to listen to the book even though I was beginning to really dislike the main character and hung on just in case the story turned around. But it didn’t and the ending was utterly horrible and I absolutely hated the main character and I really wish I used my credit on a different book.

The Crimson Lake series was top notch and the few book in between that series and this new book were ok in my opinion. So I went into this book thinking it was going to be subpar. It was one of my top reads for 2023. Hope it turns into a series!

The reason why the protagonist was being targeted was really lame. The story was entertaining but I wouldn’t recommend the book and I only finished it because I was stuck in traffic and I didn’t have another audiobook to listen too.

Narcissistic female character
Reviewed: 01-08-22
This book was a big disappointment. Narcissistic female characters that get a happy ending by hurting other women is not my idea of a good mystery. Wish I passed on this one.

Wish I would have passed on this one. By the end, I wasn’t sure if I was mad that I wasted 10+ hours listening to this awful book or happy that it was finally over. I gave 3 stars for performance because Imogen Church is awesome and the only reason why I actually listened to the whole book.

Strong women weak man
Reviewed: 02-24-21
I absolutely loved this book until the last hour. I hate it when authors weaken a strong woman, a woman who could stand on her own, who makes her own path. The main character earns the readers respect throughout the book and you feel the characters pain and sorrow when accusations are made against her. But it just seriously bothers me when a strong character is weakened because of a mans mistakes. Would this woman really have taken her husband back and raised another woman’s child? This woman, who has shown an inner strength and self worth strong enough to stand up against prominent men throughout the book, ends up taking back her serial cheater husband and the baby he had with another woman? I couldn’t finish it. I lost all respect for both the character and the author. This was my 2nd book by Sandra Dallas and it will be my last. This character deserved better.
