Story
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

Best BINGE Read in a while!

What an incredible story! It's been a while since I've entered a new land, a new storyline, and met such incredible characters! The details, descriptions, magic systems, school, history, just everything is wonderfully woven together with passion and humor in equal turns.
The dragons are powerful as they are snarky. The humans are diverse and captivating.
Rebecca Soler was a great narrator with distinct voices and tones for each character. I look forward to more of Teddy Hamilton in the future.
November 7th can not come fast enough for Iron Flame!!

Another win for Jacqueline Carey

A story bold, and far reaching. Rife with eloquent and insightful characters. An epic adventure, distinct cultures, and of course, Carey's delicate touch of love, of all types.
This was an exquisite story! I'm sad it has ended. And although it seems done, I hope she returns, as there are endless possibilities for more adventure!

And Boom goes the Dynomite!!! Best of the Series!

Three Hours is my absolute favorite, followed by 6 Months. In this story we learn all about Wheeler and Nya. Wheeler's dark secrets come out and make him one of the deepest characters in the series.
Nya is just fantasticwith her sharp tongue and warm heart.
Nicole Poole knew it out of the park again.
one small complaint is that Nicole portrays Maize, at age 11, to still sound like a baby. that was a bit grating. but otherwise, phenomenal story!!

Story
For years, the Shalador people suffered the cruelties of the corrupt queens who ruled them, forbidding their traditions, punishing those who dared show defiance, and forcing many more into hiding. Now that their land has been cleansed of tainted blood, the Rose-Jeweled Queen, Lady Cassidy, makes it her duty to restore it and prove her ability to rule. But even if Lady Cassidy succeeds, other dangers await.

fantastic story - horrible accent for Janelle
Reviewed: 10-18-17
LOVED the story! I love all of the stories set in the Black Jewels world. And John Sharien did a great job reading this story, and ask the others, which was why it was frustrating and disapponting to hear him give Janelle a Celtic accent in this book and The Shadow Queen.
Otherwise this book is hands down my favorite of the entire series!
