Story
After the killing of a prominent mob lawyer, NYPD homicide detectives Jacob Jackson and Caitlin Grimes start receive chilling, written “rules” for how to commit the perfect murder. "Rule number one for the perfect murder: Evidence is your enemy. Leave none behind." Jackson (Reid Scott) and Grimes (Cobie Smulders) race to find the killer, setting them on a collision course with the city’s crime underbelly, and a perpetrator who seems happy to toy with them. “Rule number two. No crimes of passion. The perfect murder is always business, never pleasure.”

RIP Jonny Wactor (Demetrius)
Reviewed: 11-23-24
I am surprised no one else commented about this being one of Johnny Wactor's last performances. He voiced the character of Demetrius. I only heard about him after his real life tragedy -- but gasped when I heard he voiced one of the main characters during the end credits. Seemed like a gifted actor gone far too soon.

It’s a hot and sticky Sunday in Lafayette, Louisiana, and Glory has settled into her usual after-church routine, meeting gamblers at the local coffee shop, where she works as a small-time bookie. Sitting at her corner table, Glory hears that her best friend—a nun beloved by the community—has been found dead in her apartment. Story
Juliet only wanted to see her childhood home one more time–to look at it from the street. She never intended to meet the new owners, let alone talk her way into a position as their new live-in nanny. But it's too late now to tell the truth about who she really is. Six-year-old Kitty has progressive mutism and cannot speak. Nobody knows why she keeps making silent phone calls to the police. Juliet makes it her mission to find out. As Juliet settles into the house, nostalgia for her childhood gives way to uneasiness, as troubling memories surface.

If you like a good mystery, this title is for you. The story had me guessing until the very end. The Narrator does an AMAZING job voicing all of the characters throughout the novel. I Every T is crossed--and, every I is dotted. I really didn't know how this was going to end. I'd love to see this made into a movie for Netflix. Highly recommend!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Story
Straitlaced Evelyn and reformed bad boy Marco might make an unlikely pair, but the two lovebirds couldn’t be more head over heels for each other. Sure, they’ve had some missed calls along the way, but all that’s in the past. They’ve got their sights set on forever, and the next stop is a walk down the aisle in front of their friends and family. It’s the big day, and everyone’s gathered to watch Marco and Evelyn say "I do". Everyone except Evelyn that is. Is the bride running late or running? The surprising answer might just be in their voicemails.

No spoilers. LOVED this story! The actors are top-notch. The only thing that was unrealistic is that some of the 'voicemails' go on forever. That's the only negative detraction point. Other than that, it was FANTASTIC.

Story
Military life is all I’ve known since I was born. But when a top-secret mission fails, I find myself suddenly discharged with nowhere to go. Mike Bravo saved my life, and they want me to join them, but there’s one small problem. Isaac “Iris” Griffin. He’s as irresistibly snarky as he always was, only there’s a big difference this time. I’m no longer closeted or scared to live my truth. And the truth is, I’ve always wanted him. It’s against Mike Bravo’s rules to fraternize with other team members. But something tells me Iris might be worth the insubordination.

Story
As in Nigeria, vagabonds are those whose existence is literally outlawed: the queer, the poor, the displaced, the footloose and rogue spirits. They are those who inhabit transient spaces, who make their paths and move invisibly, who embrace apparitions, old vengeances and alternative realities. Eloghosa Osunde's brave, fiercely inventive novel traces a wild array of characters for whom life itself is a form of resistance.

Was REALLY looking forward to this release. But, after 10 minutes or so, I realize this story is just a "hot mess" of nonsense. I guess I won't pre-order a book until I see what the other reviews say first. I believe the LA Times was the newspaper that recommended this. I'm really disappointed. Will be returning it. Save your credit and $$$. This is, I think, the most negative review I've ever given. So sorry!

I heard about this book on "The View" last week. The description peaked my interest.
I'm SO glad I listened to this title. It really does take you on a great journey that brings together such well-developed characters and visual imagery.
Sara Powell's narration was s gift in itself. She brought the characters to life with so much passion and artistic precision. I hope Chibundu Onuzo's masterpiece is made into a film.
PLEASE get this audiobook. It does not disappoint.
