About this listen

A family riddled with lies. A little girl who won't speak. What if keeping her safe means losing her forever?

Juliet only wanted to see her childhood home one more time–to look at it from the street. She never intended to meet the new owners, let alone talk her way into a position as their new live-in nanny. But it's too late now to tell the truth about who she really is.

Six-year-old Kitty has progressive mutism and cannot speak. Nobody knows why she keeps making silent phone calls to the police. Juliet makes it her mission to find out.

As Juliet settles into the house, nostalgia for her childhood gives way to uneasiness, as troubling memories surface. She begins to realise that her new employers have a connection to her own past, and family secrets she has tried hard to forget. And she is horrified to learn that they have a secret too–one that could blow their world apart.

Juliet faces an impossible choice. Keeping Kitty safe could cost her everything.

Escape into this stunning psychological thriller with unforgettable characters and an ending you won't see coming.

Loved it!

I hope this author continues to write books in this genre. This story is entertaining and keeps you guessing. It is the first story in a long time where I was excited to have some down time to get back to the book. Highly recommend, and I look forward to another story from this author. The narrator was also excellent!

Beautifully emotional

The author truly captured the feeling of loss and grief. That is not the point of the book, but those moments resonated with me. I cried many times towards the end (it ended beautifully, btw), feeling those words thought by the main character about her mother, whom I have also lost. Great story, had me wanting to keep listening every step of the way.

Drawn out

It was a good story but way too drawn out . I skipped ahead a few times just to get to the end .

Outstanding!

I listen to about 2-3 books of this genre a week, so many just run together but this one was exceptional. The story is highly engaging, tender and also intriguing throughout. The end is a jaw dropper but not a ridiculous plot trick. Absolutely excellent. I’m sad there aren’t more from this writer.

So good! Had me hooked the whole time

If you like a good mystery, this title is for you. The story had me guessing until the very end. The Narrator does an AMAZING job voicing all of the characters throughout the novel. I Every T is crossed--and, every I is dotted. I really didn't know how this was going to end. I'd love to see this made into a movie for Netflix. Highly recommend!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Never saw it coming

Wow, I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would. These types of books aren’t really what I listen to but I gave it a try and I enjoyed. I never saw the twists coming.

Heartbreaking and heartwarming simultaneously.

While the evil portrayed in this book may seem utterly fictional to many, as a survivor of narcissistic gaslighting and abuse… I can assure you that this level of sadistic cruelty is all too real. This story is a beautiful tale of triumph over evil and the performance is captivating.
