Story
The eight-year-old boy had vanished from the car and, as if by slick, sick magic, had been replaced by a note on the steering wheel reading, "You don't love him." At the height of summer, a dark shadow falls across Exmoor; more children are stolen, each disappearance marked only by the same brutal accusation. No explanations, no ransom demands, and no hope.

Was sad to end the series
Reviewed: 03-04-17
What did you love best about This Was a Man?
The richness and complexity of the characters.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Maybe Seb, as he was the best part of each parent and yet he too was flawed, as we all are.
Have you listened to any of Alex Jennings’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I had not, but I wold listen to him again. He has such a range to be able to do so many accents so well.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, but I did do it in a week of driving and then cleaning house.
Any additional comments?
I wish that there had been many more books in this series, as I did not want it to end.

While this continued the family story, I felt like I was left hanging on too many levels, with too many characters. I would have like too have had more than 1 character have closure. But only that aspect was disappointing.

The characters are rich, the storylines compelling. You will want to rush to the next chronicle.

Story
Two-time winner of the Pulitzer Prize David McCullough tells the dramatic story behind the story about the courageous brothers who taught the world how to fly: Wilbur and Orville Wright.
On December 17, 1903, at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, Wilbur and Orville Wright's Wright Flyer became the first powered, heavier-than-air machine to achieve controlled, sustained flight with a pilot aboard. The Age of Flight had begun. How did they do it? And why?

Great story about important part of history
Reviewed: 08-05-15
This really explains the Wright Brothers place in aviation history and as always with David McCullough biographies it successfully intertwined the personal aspects of their lives with what history books have already told us. He always takes you deeply into the character's thoughts and feelings. His study of the person is thorough. My only complaint is that the author should have let someone else read it. I kept wanting to clear my throat for Mr McCullough and feel him to rest.

Then comes that dreaded moment: He thinks they should have a talk. Braced for the worst, Ellen is pleasantly surprised.
