Story
Everyone expected Violet Sorrengail to die during her first year at Basgiath War College-Violet included. But Threshing was only the first impossible test meant to weed out the weak-willed, the unworthy, and the unlucky. Now the real training begins, and Violet’s already wondering how she’ll get through. It’s not just that it’s grueling and maliciously brutal, or even that it’s designed to stretch the riders’ capacity for pain beyond endurance. It’s the new vice commandant, who’s made it his personal mission to teach Violet exactly how powerless she is–unless she betrays the man she loves.

The plot and plot twists

The story as a whole was a joy to listen to. There were times with the voicing of characters was off. However, it doesn't take away from the over all story.

Story
Ollie and Caro Harcourt are moving house with their 12-year-old daughter Jade. Ollie is desperate to leave the city. Caro is less sure. Then they view Cold Hill House, a dilapidated rural mansion, and fall instantly in love. It's expensive, but with its space, seclusion, and huge grounds, it seems like a brilliant idea. That is, until they arrive. It soon becomes apparent that they are not alone. A spectral woman appears on screens and walks the corridors, vanishing before she can be challenged.

The first death of the book is the only aspect of the story that stands out.

In this story there is way too much filler. There is a lot of unecessary details about the main characters and their lives. There is almost nothing of an actual ghost story. Parts of the story have supernatural aspects but most of this story focuses on the parents jobs. It was very boring and leaves the listner wanting more. As in more detail on toher

Characters development and plot

I love how the author writing style and her details. It really allows you to envision the world the characters live in. At one point you do get frustrated with how the characters are slow to accept and acknowledge what you already know. But it makes it all the more better for when you listen to the end. I truly hope the author makes a sequel.

Story
People hate my type of magic. They consider a lot of us psychics frauds, or fake witches. For Arlo, however, his magic might just be hated even more. He’s my classmate at the prestigious Dreadmor Academy. He’s also noticeably a werewolf, from the stark yellow eyes, to the full moon transformations. He’s a dangerous combination, and it might be best for me to stay away… Except I don’t wish to. We might be able to achieve great things together, with our magic. With each other… Author's Note: These are stand alone romances with an HEA intended for 18 and up.

The background characters are the best part of the whole thing.

It has way too many plot wholes. The characters delvelopment and build up is terrible. The end is like the end of a chapter. It leaves you with not knowing who everything turns out in the end. For the next book to begin with different characters. It felt like a waste of time. And a waste of a series that has and/or had a lot of potential.
