Story
Negotiating a commercial real estate lease can test the resolve of even the most seasoned business leader. Companies looking for space in today’s markets need a solid plan to give them that extra edge. There is so much more to understand than just the rental rate. There are a myriad of lease terms and concessions to consider, and each situation is unique because commercial spaces differ, tenant needs vary, and space footprints are atypical.

The narrator’s random inflections and cadence was hard to listen to. I might as well read the physical book.

Zack Lightman has never much cared for reality. He vastly prefers the countless science-fiction movies, books, and videogames he's spent his life consuming. And too often, he catches himself wishing that some fantastic, impossible, world-altering event could arrive to whisk him off on a grand spacefaring adventure.

For those who saw RPO the movie and ended up reading RPO & RPT, give this one a try and read it with an open mind.
In my opinion, this book is more entertaining than RPO, RPT, & Ender’s Game.

At first, I thought it’d be another how to on storytelling, but was pleasantly surprised with the motivation behind it. I am very much a nuts and bolts type of guy. I was missing the why, which made me short change the what and how. This changed my mind on the way I’ll be approaching copywriting.

Redefining the classic essay, this modern edition of Ralph Waldo Emerson’s most famous work, Self-Reliance, includes self-reflections from both historical and contemporary luminaries. With quotes from the likes of Henry Ford and Helen Keller to modern-day thought leaders like Jesse Dylan, Steve Pressfield, and Milton Glaser, we're reminded of the relevance of Emerson’s powerful words today. Both narrators made the content feel robotic which detracted from the overall message and content.
Switching narrators in the last chapter seemed unnecessary.
The last chapter was mostly quotes from other people. I’m not a super experienced reader, and it is quite possible my mind was distracted by the robotics, but for a book that is about self reliance and essentially i finding ones own voice, the quotes could have been omitted.

Story
Do you ride the escalator or do you take the stairs? No matter how you define success, it always requires one thing: self-discipline. But as popular speaker and strategist Rory Vaden explains, we live in an "escalator world", one that's filled with shortcuts, quick fixes, and distractions that make it all too easy to slide into procrastination, compromise, and mediocrity. What seems like an easier path is really much harder in the end - and, most important, it won't take you where you want to go.
