Another great book in the Walt Longmire Series
Reviewed: 12-26-17
I’d recommend this book to anyone who has followed the TV series. The only way this book could be better is to use Robert Taylor and Lou Diamond Phillips as the narrators. The story is well written, the plot is well thought out, and Walt Longmire is true to his heart and his friends and his job.

Another Great Brit "FBI" book
Reviewed: 05-01-17
The coming together of Kitsun and the FBI characters made this book. The plot twists, the action, and the sheer madness of the twins was a not to be missed roller coaster ride. The characters are becoming fleshed out and you get to know them better, and enjoy the comradery between them. They work well as a team each of them having their own special skills, and they all have each other's backs.
The accents are well done although Kitsun sounds more Irish than Scottish. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am eagerly looking forward to the next one.

What a novel idea to finish off the story of Jack the Ripper.
Always filled with murder and mahem Isaac Bell never ceases to put the readers on the edges of their seats. I think this is the best Bell novel yet.
There are always solid historical facts mixed with the authors imagination of how the story "becomes". Both authors are masterful storytellers and always weave multiple plot lines into a thrilling ending. I'm eagerly awaiting the next three Cussler novels due out this year.

A good narrator can make or break an audio book
Reviewed: 01-03-17
Ann Flosnick should not have been the narrator for this book. Her overly smarmy British accent was wearing on the ears. Any one of a dozen British actresses could have done a much better job of the narration.
The only thing that kept me listening to the end is the fact that Catherine Coulter is one of my favourite authors. Any other books narrated by Ann Flosnick in the future will get a wide pass from me.

The shots came quickly, silently, and with deadly accuracy. Within seconds, three people were dead at Central Park's ice skating rink. The victims: a talented young skater, a doctor, and a teacher. As random as random can be. Eve Dallas has seen a lot of killers during her time with the NYPSD, but never one like this. After reviewing security videos, it becomes clear that the victims were killed by a sniper firing a tactical laser rifle, who could have been miles away when the trigger was pulled.

Another great "In Death" novel!
Reviewed: 10-31-16
Nora Roberts has done it again. The "In Death" novel series is one of my all time favorites. Consistent in character development with characters that grow in different ways in each novel, while still maintaining their strengths and their likabilities. There are always a few good laughs, a few choice comments, and the strength of the love between Roark and Dallas that makes these novels my favorites. And Susan Erickson as the narrator has done another bang up job with a wonderful story. Keep them coming Nora!!!!!

In Lisa Gardner's second short story, after the New York Times bestseller The 7th Month, Detective D.D. Warren takes on her most intimidating assignment yet: a fifty-minute class meant to educate a horde of bloodthirsty thriller writers on the ways of actual police work. Yet sometimes life really does imitate fiction, as D.D. takes the writers through the reality of one of her most twisted cases - a case that involves a seedy motel room, drugs, prostitution...and a severed leg.

After having read several Lisa Gardner books, I found this one very disappointing.
No real plot, no character development, (I'll give you that it was a short story) but not a very good one.
Not a happy reader with this one. I will be returning it.

An historic literary event: the publication of a newly discovered novel, the earliest known work from Harper Lee, the beloved, best-selling author of the Pulitzer Prize-winning classic To Kill a Mockingbird. Originally written in the mid-1950s, Go Set a Watchman was the novel Harper Lee first submitted to her publishers before To Kill a Mockingbird. Assumed to have been lost, the manuscript was discovered in late 2014.

A Fantastic Sequel to "To Kill a Mockingbird"
Reviewed: 08-21-15
After listening to "To Kill a Mockingbird" I had to purchase "Go Set a Watchman"
It's really too bad that Harper Lee didn't write more novels, as her take on the situation in the South in the 1960's was spot on.
Reese Witherspoon as the narrator for this novel does as good a job as Miss Spacek does for the previous book. The last few chapters will make you cry for Jean Louise (Scout) as her views and vision of the South and it's people are radically tested.
I loved this book and again I was left wanting more.

I don't normally review the books I read, as I know the authors I like, and the books I usually buy usually always match or exceed my expectations.
That said, I never got the chance to read "To Kill a Mockingbird" and have only seen bits and pieces of the movie. I'm so glad I purchased this book as it is one of the finest books I've ever had the pleasure of listening to. Miss Spacek is a top notch narrator, sliding easily into one character and then another. Her inflection and voice brought this book to life for me. I can see the kids putting on the plays, I can feel their fear, and their love and respect for Atticus, and their intense curiousity about Boo Radley.
The book was wonderful, and I really didn't want it to end.

Best Series I've read in a long time.
Reviewed: 10-07-14
I loved this book, and can't wait for the next one to arrive. As an author Kevin Hearne has a wicked sense of humour, and he doesn't really care who he pokes in the nose with that humour. Sometimes to his characters detriment. In this one, our two favourite Druids are off on another adventure, sometimes together, sometimes apart, but together again in the end.
This is the 7th book in this series, and every single one of them is a keeper. I laughed myself silly at the sly wit and sarcastic comments that Oberon(an Irish Wolfhound) makes.
As the narrator Luke Daniels is one of the best voice artists I've had the pleasure to listen to.
He has narrated many books that I've purchased over the years, and has always done a fantastic job with the voices. He is extremely proficient at accents, from Irish to Polish to Vampire to Bear or what you think a bear might sound like if it could talk.
This series is worth every single penny you have to put out to listen/read it. Can't wait for the next book.

Should be marked as "explicit sexual content"
Reviewed: 02-26-13
I've run across a couple of these books in the last little while. All bought on a whim, basically from the descriptions listed when you run your cursor over the picture.
The descriptions are fine, but should be marked with "explicit sexual content."
Truly I don't understand why the sexual act should be described with such graphic, mostly vulgar terminology. Silvia Day could certainly take a page from Nora Roberts books when she writes as J.D. Robb. In her novels the sex is hot and steamy without being described in such vulgar terms.
The way Silvia writes about sex, you'd think that the only sex she has ever had, has been violent and brutal with no love involved, ever.
The mind is a funny thing, and can experience the lushness of the sexual act without all the graphic details, just by being led down the proverbial garden path. Most of the time it's hotter to be led than be told in vulgar terms.
The fact that this is the way that she writes has certainly put me off purchasing any more of her novels, and makes me want to stay with the authors that I know and enjoy. And that is a shame, because new authors deserve a chance to show their stuff just as the tried and true authors can and do.
Audible, you should clearly mark any of this type of novel, so the listeners can make an informed choice as to whether they want to purchase these books or not.
