Publisher's summary

Isaac Bell may be on the hunt for the greatest monster of all time in the newest action-adventure novel from the New York Times best-selling author.

The year is 1911. Chief Investigator Isaac Bell of the Van Dorn Detective Agency has had many extraordinary cases before. But none quite like this.

Hired to find a young woman named Anna Pape who ran away from home to become an actress, Bell gets a shock when her murdered body turns up instead. Vowing to bring the killer to justice, he begins a manhunt that leads him into increasingly more alarming territory. Anna Pape was not alone in her fate - petite young blond women like Anna are being murdered in cities across America. And the pattern goes beyond the physical resemblance of the victims - there are disturbing familiarities about the killings themselves that send a chill through even a man as experienced with evil as Bell. If he is right about his fears, then he is on the trail of one of the greatest monsters of his time.

Best one yet!

Thoroughly enjoyed this. Scott Brick gives a great performance as usual. Cussler and Scott weave legend into a grand adventure for Bell spanning two continents. My favorite of Isaac's cases yet.

Another great Cussler thriller

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Great story that kept you guessing until the end. This was one of Cussler's better stories and I would highly recommend it to a friend.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Cutthroat?

Why would I say and ruin the guess work for someone else?

Which character – as performed by Justin Scott and Scott Brick – was your favorite?

Isaac Bell is always a wonderful character and I love any narration by Justin Scott or Scott Brick.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I listened to the end of a chapter while sitting in the parking lot at work. Being on time be damned!

Any additional comments?

If you have never listened to a Cussler novel this was a good one. I always love how the epilogue takes you 50 years into the future so I don't have to guess if there is a happily ever after.
