Story
Iðunn is in yet another doctor's office. She knows her constant fatigue is a sign that something's not right, but practitioners dismiss her symptoms and blood tests haven't revealed any cause. When she talks to friends and family about it, the refrain is the same—have you tried eating better? exercising more? establishing a nighttime routine? She tries to follow their advice, buying everything from vitamins to sleeping pills to a step-counting watch. Nothing helps. Until one night Iðunn falls asleep with the watch on, and wakes up to find she’s walked over 40,000 steps in the night.

I was enjoying this book until I definitely wasn’t. Without spoiling anything. I’ll just say that the subject matter took a turn that wasnt indicated in summary. Had I known , I would not have purchased this book.
It was a good concept but I believe was executed miserably. There were a few “holes” where info was just assumed and not discussed previously.
The narration was pretty good. No crazy mispronunciation or any other quirks
As for the ending… it sucked imo
Sorry. I really wanted to like this book much more than I did.

Story
When the Burgess family move into their "forever" home, it seems like they are set for many happy years together at their new address. Steph and Grant, along with their children, Charlie and Amelia, settle into their new surroundings quickly. But then they receive an unexpected visit from a couple who claim to have lived in the house before. They wish to come in and have a look around for old time's sake. Seeming pleasant and plausible, Steph invites them in. And that's when things begin to change.

my title is the only thing that might resemble a spoiler in this review. this book was good but I kept losing track , I felt like I may have missed a few points or they intentionally held back in not sure. narration was good. nice steady pace no crazy inflections. this book was good but made me mad at points again it may not be the author fault it may have been me. I'd like to now read other reviews to see if it was just me.

I just met my new son-in-law . . . And he’s my ex-husband. They’re here. I watch them arrive from the kitchen window. My pregnant daughter and her new husband. They’ve barely known each other six months. I greet him with a tight smile that he recognizes as fake. Luke is no good for my beautiful, fragile Cerys. He’ll break her heart. I know that because he broke mine — when he was married to me. I don’t know what he’s after. But I’m going to make it my business to find out.

Story
Two little girls stand with their heads bowed in my living room. I’m told they’re my granddaughters. Daisy is nine, and Alice seven. Daisy is the spitting image of her mother. This is the first time I’ve met them since my daughter and I fell out after she married that waste of space, Vince. They’ve come to live with me because their mother — my daughter — was murdered. In her own home while they slept close by. I think Vince killed her. But the police can’t prove it. I’ve always known he was no good. He treated my daughter like dirt. I said he’d cheat on her — but she wouldn’t listen.

it was very good but the pacing was off for me but still good

slow start , lagging before half then steady for a bit , then bam abrupt ending. Ruth Ware can do no wrong imo I'm a huge fan. it wasn't the story line or character. like I said pace seemed erratic. , but I'm a little erratic right now so it could be me.
all in all I would recommend
narration was superb 5 stars

although mystery is my genre , true crime hasn't ever been my go to. that being said I do tend to follow a case into the depths of the earth from time to time. this case. Kaylee, Maddie, Ethan and Zana tragic ending was told in a very respectful way. it gave some tibbits of info thst I had missed. overall it was a well told story.

as always there will be no spoilers in my reviews, this was rather good , almost couldn't put down. classic storyline with a refreshing take . impressive. this book also had some small humor now and thdn and it made me laugh. that's hard to do. the Narration was superb. I'm growing concerned about the numerous virtual voice narration. don't put excellent people out of a job bc AI may be ok for some audiobooks but it won't fly in the mystery category. it's becoming increasingly more difficult to catch a good book these days. US just repeats every lifetime made for movie plot over and over. UK much more imagination and sense of mystery. I find it hard to be scared/ THRILLED by a Valley Girl type. whose jumping from chapter to chapter clueless.
that being said. I grabbed this for $2.99. it was well worth it. would have used a credit if I had to. solid one.
