About this listen

I might be a grandmother. But I’m not some sweet, harmless old lady who people can push around.

Two little girls stand with their heads bowed in my living room. I’m told they’re my granddaughters. Daisy is nine, and Alice seven. Daisy is the spitting image of her mother. This is the first time I’ve met them since my daughter and I fell out after she married that waste of space, Vince.

They’ve come to live with me because their mother — my daughter — was murdered. In her own home while they slept close by.

I think Vince killed her. But the police can’t prove it. I’ve always known he was no good. He treated my daughter like dirt. I said he’d cheat on her — but she wouldn’t listen.

Now he wants his daughters back.

Over my dead body.

I finally have a family of my own. And nobody is going to take it away from me.

Not at all what I expected

In the very best way, this was not at all what I expected. Fun and interesting - I never knew what was coming next!! I think we need a sequel!

Fun listen

Great narration, fun and well written thriller. The ending, I would have liked to have been different. Although, the groundhogs day-like-ending made sense-it’s difficult to change unhealthy patterns of behavior- the story could have done with more of a resolution. Did enjoy the story all the way through though.

Excellent performances

Performances are excellent, they make you keep listening. Interesting characters. The premise is intriguing, but the development is uneven, the final chapters should be much better, and the last twist should be avoided

A Very Convoluted Story

What I liked most is they had an actual man narrating the male character instead of a woman unconvincingly imitating one. Most annoying. Crazy as this story is, it took some imagination to create. The Father is a witless hot mess, and The Grandmother is one incredible piece of work. Some subtle humor and engaging dialogue.

Good read

It was a bit confusing in the end but worth the wait as it was not predictable.
