Story
Josie Bianci was killed years ago on a train during a terrorist attack. Gone forever. It’s what her sister, Kit, an ER doctor in Santa Cruz, has always believed. Yet all it takes is a few heart-wrenching seconds to upend Kit’s world. Live coverage of a club fire in Auckland has captured the image of a woman stumbling through the smoke and debris. Her resemblance to Josie is unbelievable. And unmistakable. With it comes a flood of emotions - grief, loss, and anger - that Kit finally has a chance to put to rest: by finding the sister who’s been living a lie.

Story
Ashleigh Carmichael has it all: money, fame, expensive cars, a multi-million-pound London house and the adoration of millions of social media followers. Curtis Redding does not have it all: homeless, penniless, down on his luck and he doesn’t even own a phone. Plus, he’s wanted to kill Bryan Matthews since he was a child. Ashleigh (through no fault of her own) winds up getting dragged into the power-play between Curtis and Bryan, who clearly have ongoing issues with each other.

Update- Audiobook review 06/26/2025 - I listened to the audible version of this book and thought the narration was very good. The voice was pleasant, easy listening and nice voice inflections.
A thrilling psychological suspense book. I did have a hard time keeping up with the time lines and whose chapter I was reading occasionally but overall enjoyed the story. I thought I had a few things figured out but then doubted my reasoning as there were several twists. Lots of evil characters to wonder about.

Ebook review:
Wow, this was definitely a thriller! I thought the author's imagination and originality was great. The story's pace was exciting all the way to the end. There were several twists throughout the book keeping me guessing what would happen next. If you like thrillers along with some bloody scenes then you will enjoy this book.

Book review: I didn't particularly like Ellie, especially in the first half of the story. I thought she was selfish and used Cal. Cal was deeply in love with her and determined to get Ellie to change her mind about him. The suspense side of the story was good and well written.

This is a shorter book in the Matt Deal series. I listed to the audible version. The narration was good, easy to understand and to listen.
The story is fast paced and wraps up some previous storylines.I would not recommend this book as a standalone, but start with Vol. 1. Matt is a fierce character fighting for justice in a future time filled with evil killers and corruption.

I listened to the audible version of this book and thought the narrator was good, keeping the story interesting and easy to understand.
The story was very graphic in describing the violence along with numerous sex scenes. I was aware of this before reading so it wasn't a surprise.
Set in the future the storyline deals with several issues including rape, assaults, corruption, drugs, crime boses and revenge. There are still loose ends at the conclusion of this book so I will continue to the next one.
