It was all I could do to finish it.
This story was melodramatic and left more questions than it answered. It was not well written and the characters were not likable.

Story
Fly Away is the story of three women who have lost their way and need each other - plus a miracle - to transform their lives. An emotionally-complex, heart-wrenching novel about love, family, motherhood, loss, and redemption, Fly Away reminds us that where there is life, there is hope and where there is love, there is forgiveness. Told with her trademark visceral storytelling and illuminating prose, Kristin Hannah reveals why she is one of the most beloved writers of our day.

This book was work to finish. All but the last two chapters were depressing and dragged on and on.
I really enjoyed other books by this author but can not give this one a good rating. It was like she ran out of ideas.
The performance was hard to listen to. I finished the book by reading it. The reader even announced the chapter titles in a tone that sounded like more problems were coming our way.

A Good Message But...
Reviewed: 07-29-20
I liked the characters in this book however some of the storyline was forced such as how the cousins meet. The message about racism was well gone and current, although at times it was a bit overdone.

I could not wait to read and hear this book. Unfortunately, I could hardly finish it. This collection of three short stories was not up to Christopher Paolini’s former quality. It was forced and disjointed. It is not worth one’s time or money.

Did not enjoy

I wanted to like this long story. I kept thinking it would improve if I just held out. The best part of the book was the rich description of characters. However, a majority of the characters died, especially if they were moral, kind leaders. And just as you grew to like many of the characters, they were murdered. The story is negative, degrading to woman, and lacks a sense of theme. It seemed senseless. I was truly disappointed.
