Story
Death is reporter Jack McEvoy's beat: his calling, his obsession. But this time, death brings McEvoy the story he never wanted to write - and the mystery he desperately needs to solve. A serial killer of unprecedented savagery and cunning is at large. His targets: homicide cops, each haunted by a murder case he couldn't crack. The killer's calling card: a quotation from the works of Edgar Allan Poe. His latest victim is McEvoy's own brother. And his last...may be McEvoy himself.

Not as suspenseful as Connelly’s other books. But the details and chilling story. I enjoyed reading it and will definitely recommend it.

Enjoyed the suspense
Reviewed: 09-11-23
The storyline was great. I enjoyed the ending “ we do what we have to do”. It took me time to get used to the narrator. I didn’t like how he changed his voice for Bosch. He sounded old and somehow weak.
But I used to it after listening to couple of the chapters, and got too involved with the suspense of the story to let it bother me.

Story
Given the importance of what they do, and the controversies that often surround them, and the violent people they sometimes confront, it is remarkable that in the history of this country only four active federal judges have been murdered. Judge Raymond Fawcett has just become number five.... Nothing is as it seems and everything’s fair game in this wickedly clever new novel from John Grisham, the undisputed master of the legal thriller.

Story
There was no shortage of words she could use to describe her father, and almost none of them complimentary. A voicemail from her estranged sister, Melanie, sends Robin’s heart racing and her mind spiraling in a full-blown panic attack. Melanie’s message is dire: Their father, his second wife, and his 12-year-old stepdaughter have been shot - likely in a home invasion - and lie in the hospital in critical condition.

They didn’t expect to work this case. But vampirism aside, the murderer’s MO is identical to that of Rod Glover - the serial killer who’s been pursuing Zoe since childhood. Story
Some call him friend or boss. Some call him husband or dad. Some call him son, even a favorite son. But the only title that matters to him is the one the media has given him: the Poet. A name he earned from the written words he leaves behind after he kills that are as dark and mysterious as the reason he chooses his victims. One word, two, three, a story in a poem, a secret that only Detective Samantha Jazz can solve. Because, he’s writing this story for her.

Enjoyed the story. Not a good narrator
Reviewed: 05-05-22
I enjoyed the story line and the suspense. But could not wait to be done because of the narrator. He kept mixing up the character voices. Even the voice used for the main character was different in the beginning of the story compared to the end of the story. Difficult to follow and figure out which character was speaking.
I will not purchase another book narrated by A W Dickson.
