Story
A supervillain from the city of Grayville has made a big mistake: He stole from one of my companies. Now he is on my radar, and it's only a matter of time before I find him, and of course, murder him. Ironically, the only thing preventing me from bringing the unknown douchebag to final justice is Grayville’s famous law-abiding superhero: The Shadow Knight. But even a hero as accomplished as the Shadow Knight can’t stop me and my team from ending the super villain threat. And if Shadow Knight won’t accept that, he might have to die as well.

Not interested in all the extra viewpoints
Reviewed: 02-23-25
Going by the title of this book, you'd think it was about an evil genius, but it's not. Basically rich guy who thinks they should kill the villains, verses imprisoning. And I'm not against that story, I think the title is not totally misleading. I would say my main gripe is how much time is spent on other viewpoints, I'm here to listen about the evil genius, not from the villain, not from some hero's sidekick. If it's only like 5 minutes or something, oh well, but not when it's like 20 minutes or 40 minutes.

The story had all the elements of a good one, but I did not enjoy it. I feel like the story was lacking something, along with the narration. The narration wasn't objectively bad, it just didn't seem to fit to.

Dropped at chapter 22.
Reviewed: 01-26-25
It felt like the story started in the middle, this book could have easily been book two of a series, at least going by the way it starts. I decided to drop it when I realized I had another 50 chapters of waiting for it to be over, with no intention to continue the series. I like the idea and the concept, but it just felt like there was too much at the beginning. you have no idea what's going on who anybody is, and so much is going on. I didn't help that, I don't like consumables, and the protagonist is an alchemist.

if this was the first story of this kind that you heard, you're going to think it's awesome. However, I've listened to many, so now it's just average for me. I'll not be continuing. As for the actual story, it starts off fulfilling its premise, but then towards the end goes in a different direction I didn't expect.

I like these kind of stories, but I don't like it when the protagonist is too dumb. I like it when the protagonist is a bit smarter and takes advantage of things, instead of basically being a normal average person.

Story
On a typical day, on an average train platform, two warring sister goddesses found their avatars. One avatar, the young Yoshi, was swept away to the world of Ephemera to be a great hero of honor, courage, and light. The other, the not-so-young Seiji, was swept away to become a dark lord out to kill or conquer all in his path. But Seiji is in absolutely no mood for that nonsense. It's bad enough that on Earth he was a closed-off, misanthropic grouch with zero patience for other people. Now he's supposed to muster enough of a give-a-damn to lead vile hordes?
