Story
Likable antiques dealer Joseph Bridgeman is back in the present and dreaming of a quiet life. But when a mysterious and enigmatic time traveler arrives in his shop, Joe learns that his first trip was just the beginning and this time, the rules of the game have changed. Blackmailed into accepting a new mission, Joe is flung back to 1960s London where he comes face-to-face with a ruthless gangster and witnesses the brutal murder of an innocent woman. Joe knows better than most that death can be reversed and the final chapter is sometimes where the story actually begins.

Excellent Time Travel Tale
Reviewed: 06-09-21
Layers of intrigue and clever dialog had me in turns laughing out loud and holding my breath in anticipation of what would happen next.
There are several twists I did not see coming which always make for an interesting read. The trips to 1960’s London were lots of fun as was the faithful sidekick, Vinny. I also appreciate that there was not a lot of foul language.
The time travel aspect of the story is excellent, I love the twistiness of it all. While the story ends well, it also alludes to adventures to come. Do not hesitate to pick this one up, you will not be disappointed.

Weak story, Weak Narration
Reviewed: 11-16-20
The story is weak, the main female character is silly and childish. The relationship between the two main characters was poorly developed and seemed inappropriate due to the immaturity of the lead female character. The narration came off as overacting. Save your time and money.

Story
Britt-Marie can't stand mess. She eats dinner at precisely the right time and starts her day at six in the morning because only lunatics wake up later than that. And she is not passive-aggressive. Not in the least. It's just that sometimes people interpret her helpful suggestions as criticisms, which is certainly not her intention. But at 63, Britt-Marie has had enough. She finally walks out on her loveless 40-year marriage and finds a job in the only place she can: Borg, a small, derelict town devastated by the financial crisis.

Story
I was so excited when Darcy announced out of the blue that we were flying to Kenya for our extended honeymoon. Now that we are here, I suspect he has actually been sent to fulfill another secret mission. I am trying very hard not to pick a fight about it, because after all, we are in paradise! Darcy finally confides that there have been robberies in London and Paris. It seems the thief was a member of the aristocracy and may have fled to Kenya. Since we are staying in the Happy Valley, we are well positioned to hunt for clues and ferret out possible suspects.

Weak story, Weak Narration
Reviewed: 08-19-20
In this installment of the series Georgie seems to be a different person. She blurts things out without knowing the full story - often stepping on her husband's toes - and he never says a word about it. Not very realistic. She comes across rude much of the time, but it is not in the usual, entitled way but towards Darcy. There are too many characters introduced in this story that don't really seem to have a reason for being there. The characters that are central to the story line you barely learn anything about.
Sadly, the narrator of the first eleven books lost her fight with cancer. She is sorely missed by her fans.
The new narrator who started with book 12 was not the right choice for a replacement. She reads most of the characters very slowly and with a quiet, almost sleepy kind of voice. Drives me crazy. Sometimes I adjusted the speed to move her along when one of these characters had a lot of dialog. I was not happy with her in book 12 but I was anxious to read a story with Georgie and Darcy married. Sadly, there really does not seem to be much more Darcy.
For a man who is supposed to be working as a spy for the British government he sure comes across as a wet blanket in this story.

Suppose, without any warning, you found yourself in another place and time? Zap. Just that fast! And even worse, in someone else’s body. Then, a month later, zap. You’re back where you were before, as yourself, trying to explain to people what had happened to you. No one believes you because during that month, people didn’t think you’d been gone, at all. Just that you’d been acting really weird.

At first I was a little put off by the voice used for the main character, but I grew to enjoy the narrator. She did an excellent job with the English, American and Spanish accents, both male and female. The story was unique and was fast paced. I hope there is a sequel.

Story
As a freelance writer, Jack Naile was used to getting an occasional letter from one of his readers, but when one of those readers sent him a clipping from a magazine, it would not only change his life, but could alter the course of history as well. The clipping had a photo, taken in Nevada in 1903, of a street scene, including a story with a sign, "Jack Naile - General Merchandise". The Nevada town's historian sent him a photo of the 19th century Jack Naile, what had seemed like an interesting coincidence immediately became much more bizarre.

Could Not Finish It
Reviewed: 05-02-20
I tried to like this book. I love time travel. I love historical fiction. This should have been a great book. It droned on and on. The minute details about every gun. sometimes given more than twice, and the many, many references from very old, sometimes obscure movies were more than I could stand. The details you want, the daily lives of the characters were mostly left out.
They go back in time and suddenly it is two years later. Then, very quickly, another two years have passed. You don't get the setting up housekeeping, fitting into the community. If four years goes by so fast. why is the book so long you might ask. The guns and the detailed fighting. Over and over again. The problem is you have not grown attached to any of the characters so you really don't care if any of them die in the fighting. Makes for a tedious listen.

Mystery/Suspense More than Romance
Reviewed: 09-27-19
While there is a romance and a few pretty hot sex scenes this book is primarily a Mystery/Thriller. It does keep you guessing most of the way thru and even when you think you know who it is you wonder if they worked alone. There were a few times it was a stretch to believe the police allowed an outsider so far "in", much less someone involved so deeply in the case. But, I liked the fact that there was not much time wasted wandering around in non-essential storylines. Everything pretty much knitted together in the end. Overall I liked the narrator, there were a few times though she got on my nerves. Mostly when voicing children or elderly people. She did a good job differentiating between when the characters were speaking out loud and when they were thinking to themselves, which happened quite a bit. Overall this is a very good book with good narration.

Reviewed: 09-24-19
Fast-moving, never boring. Some foul language, Deals with sex trafficking and can be hard to listen to in places, but that is only due to the subject matter, not the writing or narration. Therese Plummer does a good job with the female characters both adult and child. I am not crazy about her male voices but they are distinct one from another and different than the females. Overall a very good book.
