Story
Bad Call is Mike Scardino's visceral, fast-moving, and mordantly funny account of the summers he spent working as an "ambulance attendant" on the mean streets of late-1960s New York. Fueled by adrenaline and Sabrett's hot dogs, young Mike spends his days speeding from one chaotic emergency to another. His adventures take him into the middle of incipient race riots, to the scene of a plane crash at JFK airport and into private lives all over Queens, where New Yorkers are suffering, and dying, in unimaginable ways.

Sonja Fong isn’t afraid of a little chaos. As director of the League’s research center in Mystic Bayou, a tiny town in Louisiana that’s home to supernatural creatures and humans alike, she’s responsible for making sure things run smoothly. It’s not an easy task when her daily memos include lines like “new equipment is needed because the old equipment was destroyed by a temper tantrum involving dragonfire.”

Awesome Start to a series

I really enjoyed listening to this book, It was a unique take on the Heroine, What she is, how she was created, It felt fast paced with no lag time. I wish that David's voice wasn't higher pitched than the lead female Voice, But other than that the Narrator rocked, She was really good at doing multiple voices for the Bad Guy and she Kept me totally sucked into the book. Going to start the second one right away.

Good Fantasy Story
Reviewed: 08-12-19
I really enjoyed The story, I see that there is a lot of reviews saying that this is a YA novel, I personally don't think it's a YA, not that there is any explicit Adult content, it's just that when I see YA, it's usually a book filled with Teen angst, worrying about the mean girls, and being embarrassed in front of cute boys, you know, all the stuff that drives us Older Adults Crazy, this book didn't have any of that nonsense. While I was really enjoying the story line, I personally could not finish the book because of how much Whispering there is ( I have this very odd issue with hearing whispering, it makes me crazy) and the Narrator even whispered Thoughts, not just parts where somebody was actually whispering and I'm only mentioning this part in case there is somebody else out there that has my odd Whisper Issue. I'm still giving this book an overall 5 star because my weird issues are not the Authors Fault. It was a good book and I will probably finish it up in an E-book format.

Together, they've got a whole lot of questions that need answering. Is an ancient vampire hunting in Denver? Who is stalking Lord Dreppenstedt? How do you cure a slipper-humping bat, ditch an ogre, or give a demon king the slip? And what the hell was she thinking swearing off cookies?

Reviewed: 08-06-18
As Usual, Ilona Andrews delivers on Build up, character development, story lines, plots, action....everything I expect from their books (which happen to be my favorite btw) I think Steve West has a great voice, But I'm so used to these Characters having such bigger personalities, sarcasm, excited, rage, the correct accents for the regions they are from etc... that i feel like it took away from the book. It might just be me, but I had a harder time listening. The book however, is amazing. I will forever purchase and read anything written by Ilona Andrews. I love them!
