Story
Punching well above their weight, Max and Markham set out to bring down a sinister organisation founded in the future—with a suspicious focus on the past. Max's focus is staying alive long enough to reunite with Leon and Matthew, alternately helped and hindered by St Mary's—who aren't always the blessing they like to think they are. But non-stop leaping around the timeline—from witnessing Magna Carta to disturbing a certain young man with a penchant for gunpowder—is beginning to take its toll. Is Max going mad? Or are the ghosts of the past finally catching up with her?

Story
Jocelyn Minton is a woman torn between two worlds. Her mother grew up attending private schools and afternoon teas, but she married the local handyman. After her mother died when Joce was only five years old, her father remarried into his own class, and Joce became an outsider - until she met Edilean Harcourt. Although she was sixty years Joce's senior, Miss Edi was a kindred soul who understood her like no one else ever had. When Miss Edi passes away, she leaves Joce all her worldly possessions, including an eighteenth-century house and a letter with clues to a mystery that began in 1941.

This was suffering!
Reviewed: 12-19-20
I suffered through this book which had crazy people doing stupid things with no fun at all!! I started to say that the only good thing about this book was the price (it was free) but on second thought, if it wasn’t free maybe I wouldn’t have listened to this book. I’m not sure if the narrator made a bad book worse or if the narrator just did the best she could with such a droning book. Whichever, both author and narrator are going on my “do not listen/read list! The characters are not even likable.

Since the ton will be sure to close their doors on these disgraced debutantes, they determine that unconventional means need to be employed in husband hunting. Rakehells, the beau monde's wickedest members, might be the only men willing to overlook a young lady's besmirched reputation. But how does one catch a rake?

Uses the lords name in vain often
Reviewed: 11-13-20
I couldn’t finish the book because of the way she treats the Christian religion. The Lord’s name in vain way way way too often, and not as character development.

Through a series of terrible decisions, Jessie realizes she must ask for help. Gargoyle help. But she could've never predicted who answers her call - he's an excellent flier, incredibly patient, and a good trainer. He's also incredibly handsome. And interested.

Too much “filler”
Reviewed: 11-09-20
The storyline is really good but the book needs an editor. It drones on about outdated women’s issues and dicks (I know, right??!!).
The heroine loves horror movies in the first book but is freaked out about a doll army. In the second book, she never liked horror movies. She never calls her parents or best friend (that would be much better filler!). Like I said, it really really needs a new editor.

My mother's New Year's resolution for me was simple: make a serious effort at putting myself out there and dating again and do it for one full year. Or, until I fell in love. Whichever came first. How hard could one year of swipes and matches and awkward first dates be? In a word: bad. In nine words: bad and also hilarious, demoralizing, exhausting, and ridiculously amusing.

Very slow and leaves unanswered questions. Maybe they will be something for another book but I won’t listen to it! The book might not be so bad if reading instead of listening, you could skip ahead because a lot of this book couldi have been edited out.
I usually can’t wait to get back to a book but with this one, I forgot that I was reading it!

The first book started really bad! It got better but it took 3 or 4 tries before I could get into it. A different narrator might have helped. And a better editor, maybe.
The second book was good.
The third book was was hard to finish but I think the narrator had a lot to blame.
