Story
Since childhood, identical twins Leona and Fiona Dunbar have been getting in—and out—of trouble by pretending to be each other. Yet underneath, they couldn’t be more different. Outspoken Leona lives to break rules, have a good time, and scandalize their respectable hometown of Lexington. Fiona is a seemingly demure churchgoing girl who is the apple of her domineering, widowed mother Mavis’s eye. But together, the twins have fooled teachers, boyfriends, bosses, racist police—and most importantly, straitlaced Mavis.

Crazy ending

The book is pretty good. The behavior of the sisters gets annoying mid way through but the ending is so worth the wait!

The story was hours longer than it needed to be. And it was annoying to listen to each couple rationalize their decisions and behavior.

Great Ending
Reviewed: 04-02-20
The book tells an interesting story about Black folks who are neighbors. There’s a whole host of characters with interesting back stories that do not distract from the story as a whole. The ending is very tidy and wraps up the storylines well. It seems everyone got what was coming to them. The narration is good except for Joyce’s voice. The person narrating Joyce’s voice is pronouncing every single letter of every single word. It is not the way people talk in real life and it was very distracting to the story. Joyce’s character is also annoying. She’s not realistic and her actions are questionable. It was very difficult to relate to Joyce. The middle part of the book was often repetitive and moved slow in certain parts, but the ending was worth it.

The Ending
Reviewed: 08-07-19
I enjoyed this book and production. The narration was nicely done and the story moved quickly. I kept thinking a “new truth” would be revealed by Roy Jr about his true guilt or innocence - no such revelation cake. I liked the ending and how it wrapped everything up nicely for me.

Story
Born to survivalists in the mountains of Idaho, Tara Westover was seventeen the first time she set foot in a classroom. Her family was so isolated from mainstream society that there was no one to ensure the children received an education, and no one to intervene when one of Tara’s older brothers became violent. When another brother got himself into college, Tara decided to try a new kind of life. Her quest for knowledge transformed her, taking her over oceans and across continents, to Harvard and to Cambridge University.

Difficult to listen to
Reviewed: 06-27-19
This was a difficult listen for me. While you root for the author to overcome, its sometimes frustrating to see how she was not protected and cared for by her parents and those in her childhood. The abuse is heartbreaking and the lingering damage unconscionable.

The narration is EXCELLENT! And the overall story was interesting and easy to follow. However, the ending didn’t feel complete and needed one or two more chapters to wrap everything up neatly. It seems like there’s a piece of the story missing from the last chapter.

Story
In this award-winning Audible Studios production, Trevor Noah tells his wild coming-of-age tale during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa. It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

AMAZING STORY!!!

Where does Born a Crime rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
BY FAR, its the best audio book I have purchased this year for sure.
What other book might you compare Born a Crime to and why?
this book is similar to "Behold The Dreamers" in that it tells an immigrant's story. However we assume this story is true and therefore has more interesting details and emotions added to it.
Have you listened to any of Trevor Noah’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No I have not. I've never even watched any of his comedy before.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Not one moment. All the little stories throughout the book and cumulate with the ending in a way that magically weaves everything together in a coherent and passionate way.
Any additional comments?
GREAT JOB TREVOR! excellent book!!
