Too Gruesome and Too much of the past

Did not enjoy this one as much. Austin’s former life became too much for me with this story. Did not enjoy the character of his reckless & book quoting friend David from NYPD. Though understanding his mourning & memories of his wife Fiona I thought this book would move him on with his possible relationship with Anna or the NCIS agent from the last book.

This is a great new series! Love the dry humor & the story was riveting all the way through. Really liked the epilogue giving an update of some of the main characters. Plan on getting every book in this series!

It struck me about halfway through this book that I remembered this tragic story in 1985. I live in East Tennessee & we had some news coverage on this at the time. I didn’t remember all the details & background but I remembered the horrific car explosion & the deadly outcome. This book goes into great detail on the family background & the names got to be a little confusing after awhile. Personally, I think this is a great but sadly horrific telling of a story that would be better (in my case) to have read on page instead of listening to due to the family tree. I know I would have gone back in the pages to bookmark things to keep up with the family names. But it was riveting as an audible pick & the epilogue was quite revealing as the surviving family members expressed their thoughts & grief. God bless them all.

Such a wonderful true story really brought this heroine to life for me. I googled her & her compatriots less than half-way through this book just to find out more about them all. I also found a brief story including a short clip of Nancy at the time of her death in 2011. She was truly a remarkably brave woman. I appreciated the author’s note at the end with the explanation of who was a composite & who was real. The narrator was awesome! She put such character in each voice she portrayed. Highly recommend this book if you love historical fiction.

Narrator Hurt This Book

I like this story & the series. The narrator on this book #2 however was not as good as the 1st book in the series. She had trouble, in my opinion, with distinguishing the male voices & also just sounded flat, minus the emotion needed. I’m still going to continue with the series & trust another narrator will be used.

Both were strangers to the town, but there's nothing else to link them. Jenna knows someone must have seen something, but no one's talking.

Alicia Berenson’s life is seemingly perfect. A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London’s most desirable areas. One evening, her husband, Gabriel, returns home late from a fashion shoot, and Alicia shoots him five times in the face and then never speaks another word. Alicia’s refusal to talk, or give any kind of explanation, turns a domestic tragedy into something far grander, a mystery that captures the public imagination and casts Alicia into notoriety.

I had a hard time getting into this book. Glad I stayed with it because of the twist in the final chapters. I anticipated a Hitchcock-type suspense thriller & it was actually. It just seemed to take forever to get there. The narration was very good.
