Story
I never meant to start a war. Then I fell for the boy my mother warned me about. To me, he was Matty. To the world, he was Mateo Cortes, soulless killer for the Carrera Cartel. We were the virgin and the villain. The debutante and the devil. He swore we'd end in ruin. I swore love would conquer all. I was wrong. One costly mistake and I’m given 30 seconds to decide my fate.

Disappointing

I am not a fan of this series of 'stand-alone' novels. It feels disconnected and the storyline seemed weak. I just couldn't get behind the characters or their relationships. Needs more depth.

Story
My cock has an appetite. A huge and very particular appetite: blond, curvy, and preferably not a f--king liar... (Although that's a story for another day.) As a high-profile lawyer, I don't have time to waste on relationships, so I fulfill my needs by anonymously chatting and sleeping with women I meet online. My rules are simple: one dinner. One night. No repeats. This is only casual sex. Nothing more. Nothing less. At least it was until Alyssa...

Story
Manning and I have what happily ever after is made of.... A home he built us on the unshakable foundation we fought for. A life of laughter carved out of heartache and betrayal. A love story to stand the test of time. But between a trust that can’t be broken, joy that can’t be bridled, and passion that would scorch the sun, the empty spaces are becoming more and more difficult to ignore.... Fears that keep Manning up at night as he slips from our bed. Our complicated relationship with a man he respects, and one I don't know how to forgive.

Kim Karr's connected series is one of my favorites but this book just couldn't hold my interest. Not a fan of the cliff hanger in this situation. most likely will not purchase the next book. I felt that the characters and the storyline were not developed very well. This book did not need to be split into to parts.

Disjointed.
Reviewed: 05-13-13
What would have made Slow Burn better?
I would have enjoyed the book more if the dialogue had not been so formal. The evolution of the story was very disjointed and did not hold my interest. I didn't believe the emotion she was trying to convey.
If you’ve listened to books by E. B. Walters before, how does this one compare?
This was the first book i've listened to by E.B. Walters.
What didn’t you like about Nina Naughton’s performance?
Very monotone.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Slow Burn?
She mentioned hazelnut creamer several times and each time was unnecessary.
