She doesn't want to deal with the past... Ten years ago, Ashley Fitzgerald witnessed the death of her parents in a tragic fire and her mind blocked the memory. He plans to expose the truth... Wealthy businessman Ron Noble has the body, the jet, the fast cars and the women, but he hides a deadly secret.

His father started the fire that killed Ashley's parents. Now someone is leaving him clues that could exonerate his father and they lead to Ashley's door. Exciting and thrilling...

Slow Burn by E B Walters (book 1)... This is my very first read by this author. I have to say , this audio-book grabbed my attention right away. I loved it. It is thrilling and exciting and sexy as all get go. Poor Ashley had been thru so much in her lifetime, she really deserved a break! I had high hopes for Ron ever since Ashley had mistaken him to be a model. This book is very well written and I look forward to book 2.

The author, E B Walters does a fantastic job on the plot! The story as a whole has an incredible story-line and much of this book had me at the edge of my seat (listening). The narrator, Nina Naughton did a wonderful delivery of this story with so many different voices and accents. I could fell the fear among many other emotions. It was like listening to a movie! The fire... All I could think was deja vu!

*** I won this audio book as a gift in a rafflecopter drawing. ***

Another TSTL female gets her man...

Look chickie, if people around you are getting beaten up and worse, and the cops offer to keep an eye on you for your safety, and a fabulously wealthy and gorgeous man who OWNS A SECURITY COMPANY wants to protect you, and your response is to tell the cops, "NO, no gizmos or gadgets. No unmarked cars," YOU ARE TOO STUPID TO LIVE!!!! Then, agree to "allow" the cops to watch over you IF they will keep that gorgeous hunk of man cake away from you (for his own good, so he doesn't get hurt, ya know). This is the point where I begin to agree with the bad guys who think the world would be a better place without you in it and to pity the great guy who will no doubt end up wanting to kill you in the future after you have ruined his life. I am so tired of the dumb chick stereotype.

Dear authors: Was there a memo that went out indicating that men equate stupid with sexy or that women relate to very stupid female characters? If so, I'm thinking that memo was sent on April 1st. Please disregard it.

Since I'm on a roll, the narrator is not great. Her voice is OK, but she reads like she's explaining something very simple to a small child. She also, unfortunately, mispronounces common words. My "favorite" was, "I'm not an in-VAL-id," (As in invalid driver's license, as opposed to IN-vuh-lid, a person who is not able to care for himself.) Sigh I'm not sure why these things get recorded. Is there no one monitoring the recording? Hellooooooo, "We need you to go back and start that paragraph again. This time, pronounce the word as IN-vuh-lid." C'mon! If a guitarist is recording a solo and hits a clinker, someone tells him to do it again. 1+1=2.

Oh, one more thing, there are a couple of paragraphs in which the author uses "his buttock cheek" to describe hot guy's ass during sex. Once would be funny. After the third or fourth use, I almost cried laughing, so there is some entertainment value there.

I agree with other reviewers that there were good parts, and it had potential but just fell flat. With a little rewrite/editing to add a few brain cells to the heroine and a more experienced narrator and/or some help in the studio, it actually could've been good.

Story good - reader wasn't

The story was ok, but the reader ruined my experience. She "read" the material rather than performed it.

This is a straight forward 'who dunnit' with a romantic story line. The story is not particularly original, but probably better than it seemed with the poor reader

Excellent romance, with extra drama, lots of drama!!! A MUST READ...

E.B. Walters is one of my favorite author's. I believe this was the first "romance novel" I have read. Her detailed information about the characters, especially their features makes it come alive! I could picture many of the people in my mind. She is (Walters) is so talented, I hope she will continue to write romance novels!
Really a page burner, actually tried to listen one night (but I fall asleep) But NOT This one, finally had to stop at 5AM!! Love the way she wove in all the characters, and
buildings like Carlyle House. What a character Nina was sounded like my ex mother in law!
Definitely a good read.

Ugh, maybe is was the narrator, maybe the story

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No, not even on sale. I don't know if it's the narration or the story or just a combination of both. It's just an mediocre listen for me. At times I catch myself thinking "This might of been good with better narration." The narrator seemed flat to me.

If you’ve listened to books by E. B. Walters before, how does this one compare?

I don't think so.

Did Slow Burn inspire you to do anything?

Not at all.

Any additional comments?

This one just isn't worth the credit. I want a listen that draws me in and this one just made me glad it was over. There were no surprises in the plot. The sexual chemistry did not exist. Like I said eariler, medicore. Use your credit for something better.

Disjointed.

What would have made Slow Burn better?

I would have enjoyed the book more if the dialogue had not been so formal. The evolution of the story was very disjointed and did not hold my interest. I didn't believe the emotion she was trying to convey.

If you’ve listened to books by E. B. Walters before, how does this one compare?

This was the first book i've listened to by E.B. Walters.

What didn’t you like about Nina Naughton’s performance?

Very monotone.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Slow Burn?

She mentioned hazelnut creamer several times and each time was unnecessary.

Narrator is terrible

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

The story was good overall but the narration was so bad I couldn't finish it.

Would you be willing to try another book from E. B. Walters? Why or why not?

Yes, if it had another narrator

How did the narrator detract from the book?

It's like she didn't read with the punctuation, she stopped in places she wasn't suppose to and she ran on in places, it made it almost impossible to keep up with the story.

Any additional comments?

I stopped listening to this book and decided to start reading it instead.
