Story
Lily hasn’t always had it easy, but that’s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She’s come a long way from the small town where she grew up—she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. And when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily’s life seems too good to be true.

Beautifully Heartbreaking
Reviewed: 05-24-24
I’m still in amazement how the author created these characters with so much depth. So many times stories are idealistic with situations and endings that are far from real life. These characters are very human and flawed, but we can see the good and bad in each of them. It’s such a beautiful story and absolutely heartbreaking but 100% worth the read.

Story
For Dee Kwan, every day is the perfect day. No, really. She has a house she loves, a job she adores, and a ridiculously attractive “nemesis” who never seems to mind when she wins their favorite online game. How can life possibly get better? (It can’t, obviously. It can only get much, much worse.) Soon Dee is forced to share her adorably cozy home with her parents and estranged grandmother. Then she’s tossed into the deep end at work, tasked with cleaning up a scandal for the intimidatingly chic luxury fashion firm Celeste. If that weren’t enough, she discovers her hot nemesis works there, too.

Story
Miss Mildred Percy is a spinster. She does not dance, she has long stopped dreaming, and she certainly does not have adventures. That is, until her great uncle has the audacity to leave her an inheritance, one that includes a dragon’s egg. The egg—as eggs are wont to do—decides to hatch, and Miss Mildred Percy is suddenly thrust out of the role of “spinster and general wallflower” and into the unprecedented position of “spinster and keeper of dragons.” But England has not seen a dragon since…well, ever.

Frustrating Character but cute story
Reviewed: 09-19-23
I wanted to love this so much as it has all of my favorite elements … regency period, and a DRAGON!! However, Miss Percy is infuriating. Her constant inability to stand up for herself and perpetually accepting the verbal abuse by her sister and niece and I was so frustrated my stomach was all tied up. Such a doormat of a character and then her not defending Fitz like she should, I could’ve screamed. I only hope she grows a spine and becomes tolerable in future books, although I doubt I will be listening to them. Sigh. Poor Miss Percy her self-imposed misery is hard to listen to.

These books were just not my jam.
I committed to listen because I had all three of them but that was painful to get through. Luckily, the narration isn’t horrible. It’s not great, but it’s not the worst I’ve heard.
This just felt like a bad fantasy story written by teenagers. Characters were whining, the “family” dynamic as just awful, and the attitudes of the characters were ridiculous … and the story was bizarre. Overall, just not for me.
If you’re a teen who’s into demons and demon-human romance. This is probably for you.
