Story
Of all the dukes in all the world, why does it have to be him? Lady Alice Ancaster needs a husband, and fast, because her reckless brother is going to get himself killed, leaving the dukedom—and her future—in their repellent cousin’s clutches. The Duke of Blackwood has known Alice since childhood, and they’ve always had a special connection. But years ago he broke it, when he chose a riotous life with his two best friends instead of a reasonable one with her.

Moreso My Convenient Duke🤗
Reviewed: 01-28-25
I really liked this trilogy of the Difficult Dukes...it had a very good fold in with the events in the first two books. One thing seemed a bit off was some dates not aligning...but now I'm ready for a combined prequel/sequel combo story which would highlight Uncle Fred and Aunt Julia as well as Cassandra's sister, the Flower 😅😂 & Morris.
I love Loretta Chase's storytelling.🤗

This book starts off with a good storyline and builds well from the start…this story to me had more relatable characters- a more plausible story. ( Yes, I know the stretches of reality that occur in fiction…just delivered plausibly).

Too Choppy and Disjointed
Reviewed: 07-13-24
This book goes from one one character’s background to another’s…just a pain in the caboose to follow. I unfortunately struggled through the choppy story and overdone accents…thinking it would get better - it didn’t!

Story
Sir Phillip knew that Eloise Bridgerton was a spinster, and so he'd proposed, figuring that she'd be homely and unassuming, and more than a little desperate for an offer of marriage. Except...she wasn't. The beautiful woman on his doorstep was anything but quiet, and when she stopped talking long enough to close her mouth, all he wanted to do was kiss her... and more. Did he think she was mad?

This book is my first Ranney book, and I liked the approach from an American immigrant family working to touch base with its European branch…it gives other historical aspects I hadn’t really thought about before. A nice storyline with just enough romance without too much hand wringing…I enjoyed the narration as well.

Much Better Than I Expected... so 4.5 Stars
Reviewed: 06-29-23
For the non team storylines, One Minute Out was much better than the other Grayman independent projects. I began to care for several of the characters early on ...while it did talk about exploited women - it was not an explicit depiction so easier to digest without disregarding the devastation wrought. And I liked the few references to Court's Poison Apple team, etc.

Story
Imagine if you made one little mistake when you were young and were punished for it for the rest of your life. Well, that’s what happened to Lydia (yes, that Lydia, the youngest Bennet sister from Pride and Prejudice), and she’s here to set the record straight. Hold on to your teacups and get ready for sophisticated (and a little bit naughty) hot takes and witty banter that’ll make you laugh—and think. We meet Lydia just as she is denounced by her family, exiled miles from home, and married to the rogue George Wickham, who seems to love all women...except his own wife.

As an old adage indicates…truth is stranger than fiction. This book made me want to learn more…a historical fiction book inspired me to want to learn more about Alexander and Napoleon…both of whom are referenced by folks in World War I and the American Civil War.
It’s intriguing how Alexander has been glorified by some and how some folks want to leave out the common day practices of the ancient times…to cherry pick actions.🤷🏻♀️Oh, well.🤷🏻♀️🫢

While I like Stand-in by the same author, this story moved too slow and the characters just drove me crazy in their indecisiveness…will I or won’t I, will he or won’t he🤪🤪…too many internal & external conversations that took too long to get to results. I ended up having to skip portions of story…characters seemed more like young teens than adults…definitely not for me.
