A sweet story with a sweet premise. The writing is good, I do agree that the plotcraft- several loose threads here- could use a bit of work, but all in all, I would purchase again. The historical attention is there, the characters are there, there is just a bit of unraveling? towards the end. MI believe this is the author's first book. I've read the second as well, it is even better. and I look forward to the third! There is a lot of humor in her writing too. The pig damn near killed me!

Well written. Extraordinarily narrated. I'm new to Ms. Flint, and I can't wait for her next book. On my scale, Julia Quinn is a three, for reference. Laura Kinsale is usually a five. This book is a solid 4.4. Sweet and intimate and attention is paid to detail, which I appreciate in my HR. The characters are well drawn, like real people, which is, judging by the material out there, harder than we might think. Very good, Ms. Flint, very good!

I can't get over the pronunciation. Is that how all Brits pronounce migraine? This story is a little bit maudlin for me, but not bad.

Kinda hard to like the MMC in this one. And the narration was kinda monotone. I feel like books 1 and 4 were much better as far as the audio. It was decent, I won't listen again.

Most of his reading sounds very... pained? He sounds like he's playing an angry tough guy in 1960s NY. Like even describing the night sky sounds like an attempt to intimidate the listener. I really liked book 4 in this series, the narrators were much better.

I had to dnf. A lot of the book was taken up with woe-is-me, I'm biracial, and woe-is-me, I'm rich.

We all have problems, I look to romance as escapism.

I look to philosophy, history, and NPR (lol) for class struggle and discussion of the plagues of modern society.

Actually, there is a way to weave these themes into the plot of the story that serves the story, where it is a showing, not a telling. (Shout out to Megan Whalen Turner who does politics and showing not telling beautifully) This book did a lot of explicit telling and it reads more like a political essay at some points. I can't listen to thirty year olds talk about how hard high school was in my romantic fiction. You gotta move on dude.

And another thing, the woman is kinda a creep in this, *and she knows it but does it anyway* which makes me not like her.

And one more thing, I grew up in Appalachia. The author definitely did not cause its just one cliche after another.
