Story
He slips into their homes at night and walks silently into bedrooms where women lie sleeping, unaware of the horrors they soon will endure. The precision of the killer's methods suggests he is a deranged man of medicine, propelling the Boston newspapers and the frightened public to name him "The Surgeon". The cops' only clue rests with another surgeon, the victim of a nearly identical crime. Two years ago, Dr. Catherine Cordell fought back and killed her attacker before he could complete his assault.

So hard to get through the book due to the narration. Not only did she mispronounce a lot of words and names but it was the monotone way in which she read.

The book was good but the narrator made it really good. I admit I figured the ending pretty early but still enjoyed the ending. I would recommend this.

The book might have been better if the narrator wasn’t so monotone. Even in the gripping and exciting parts were read as if she were asking a librarian a question.

Not the best James Patterson books.

The random clock ticking and music is very disconcerting and irritating. The narrator was not horrible and not great just meh. The story dragged in a lot of places completely loosing my interest partly because of the narrator’s somewhat one tone performance but not totally. Would I recommend the book? Only the book version not the audiobook.

Narrator was absolutely horrible
Reviewed: 05-05-24
Not really sure how good or bad the book was because of the narrator. She delivers a one note, monotone that never kept my attention for more than 5 minutes. My mind would drift away. I would suddenly remember that the drone in my earbud was actually a book being read. I wanted to like the book but there wasn’t a chance with this narrator. If there was a 0 rating I would give it for the narration.

Terrific story & narrator was amazing

I just recently lost my Kentucky mama. She was hard, strong, strict, loving (without uttering the words) and utterly beautiful. She was so similar to several characters depicted in this book. My father was also a miner, so I could draw so many parallels to the hard life my parents lead. I can’t say enough how utterly amazing this narrator was.
