Brilliant, outspoken, willful - no one dared challenge stunning Miranda's wild ways.... Except Jared Dunham. Betrothed to this wildcat in a pact that allowed Miranda to remain mistress of her ancestral home off the New England coast, the roguish merchant-adventurer turns his wife's burning rage to searing ecstasy as he fires her most wanton desires.

Not for the faint of heart. So caveat emptor with some pretty racy themes. But if you can get past those it's a rollicking listen. Narrator great as ever.

Really enjoyed this historical cross section of spy stories. The mini introductions for each one were especially interesting giving context for sweep of the book. Loved the narration too. Immersive. Recommended!

I love grimdark stuff so even though this one tested me I stuck it. There's a conviction and uncompromising quality to the writing which keeps me there..There's not much else out there like it. The final book in the series is worth it I understand.

Story
When Josh’s longtime partner, Grace, dies in a tragic accident, he is left with a mess of grief - and full custody of her seven-year-old son, Logan. Wanting to do right by Logan, Josh begins the process of becoming his legal guardian - something that seems suddenly urgent, though Grace always brushed it off as an unnecessary formality. But now, as Josh struggles to find the paperwork associated with Logan’s birth, he begins to wonder whether there were more troubling reasons for Grace’s reluctance to make their family official.

The story deals with the consequences of tragedy very convincingly - and then you're taken on a twisting journey which is never less than compelling. The narration is also top notch, I've rarely heard such fantastic expression and emotion. Well done.

Story
This lush novel, set in 1766 England and America, evokes an era ripe with riot and revolution, from the teeming streets of London to the sprawling grounds of a Virginia plantation. Mack McAsh burns with the desire to escape his life of slavery in Scottish coal mines while Lizzie Hallim is desperate to shed a life of sheltered subjugation to her spineless husband. United in America, their only chance for freedom lies beyond the Western frontier - if they're brave enough to take it.

Immersive and entertaining listen. I particularly liked how much research the author had put into the story. So much easier to disappear into the past and learn some interesting stuff too. Just the ticket.

Story
At the time of the French Revolution, one of Britain's most skillful naval officers, Charles Saunders Hayden, is a young lieutenant, the son of an English father and a French mother. His abilities and his loyalty to the king of England are beyond dispute, yet his career seems doomed by his "mixed" heritage and lack of political connections. Consequently, Hayden is assigned to an aging frigate, the Themis, under the command of Captain Josiah Hart, a man known as "Faint Hart" throughout the service.

Story
The tale begins in Dark Age Britain, a land where Arthur has been banished and Merlin has disappeared, where a child-king sits unprotected on the throne, where religion vies with magic for the souls of the people. It is to this desperate land that Arthur returns, a man at once utterly human and truly heroic: a man of honor, loyalty, and amazing valor; a man who loves Guinevere more passionately than he should; a man whose life is at once tragic and triumphant.

Story
The Great Game between Victorian Britain and Tsarist Russia was fought across desolate terrain from the Caucasus to China, over the lonely passes of the Parmirs and Karakorams, in the blazing Kerman and Helmund deserts, and through the caravan towns of the old Silk Road - both powers scrambling to control access to the riches of India and the East. When play first began, the frontiers of Russia and British India lay 2000 miles apart; by the end, this distance had shrunk to 20 miles at some points.
