Story
Lark Smith has always had a plan for her life: find a fantastic guy, create a marriage as blissful as her parents’, pop out a couple of kids, and build a rewarding career as an oncologist. Things aren’t going so well. For one, the guy didn’t work out. Theoretically, she’d love to find someone else, but it hasn’t happened. Two, she’s just been transferred out of Oncology for being too emotional. (Is it her fault she’s a weeper?) Three, her parents just split up. Deviating from the plan was … well, not in the plan. A potential solution comes from the foul-tempered surgeon Lorenzo Santini.

I love the series as a whole ans Xe Sands narration however the fact that she is not the narrator on these last 2 books...is very very disheartening. Totally killed my enthusiasm on the series and I can o ly recommend to listen through book 10 because its just not the same without Xe narrating.

Story
Twice in her life, college counselor Gayla Oliver fell in love at first sight. The first time was with Brian - a lean, longhaired, British bass player. Marriage followed quickly, then twins, and gradually their bohemian lifestyle gave way to busy careers in New York. Gayla's second love affair is with New Bern, Connecticut. Like Brian, the laid-back town is charming without trying too hard. It's the ideal place to buy a second home and reignite the spark in their 26-year marriage. Not that Gayla is worried. At least, not until she finds a discarded memo in which Brian admits to a past affair....

I absolutely enjoyed this story. I could see myself wanting to visit the Chocolate Pot for hot chocolate and a brownie. I loved the small town atmosphere as projected in the story. The narrator was very enjoyable as well. I could listen to her all day! Well actually I did...for a couple of days!

Just ok...

I so looked forward to this book but if left me with a meh feeling. It seemed to have a lot of wordy words for descriptions without really saying anything. It was almost like a screenplay knowing that an actual movie would showcase the actual playsets that Colby held on the beach as well as Morgan's near the end. Speaking of which it seemed like Gary was a major character based on how much his name came up but he really wasn't. I felt like the story was building and then it quickly resolved...like more of a rushed ending without the same intense thought of the buildup. It will be very easy to forget unlike some of Nicholas Sparks other books such as The Wish or The Longest Ride.
