About this listen

An irresistible novel about women, men, and the dogs that own them. Thirty-nine year old Rachel is having a really bad year. After losing her job and breaking up with her boyfriend, Rachel has inherited her late aunt's house, her beloved border collie, and a crowded rescue kennel, despite the fact that she knows almost nothing about dogs. Still, considering her limited options, she gamely takes up the challenge of running the kennel. And as Rachel starts finding new homes for the abandoned strays, it turns out that it might not just be the dogs that need rescuing.

This book ended with happiness however the transition between women in the book was sometimes hard to follow until the names became more familiar.

A great book showing how we all make mistakes and how we mess up our lives. I loved how these women were all on the verge of messing up some more, but with the help of friends, they were able to reason things out and put their lives in order. Communication is a wonderful way to see how each other feels and why and allows us to have a second chance to do the right thing. I really enjoyed this book and didn't want it to end.

Save the Dogs and Our Hearts.

I am a dog lover and owner of bassets, so they had me at “Bertie”!!! I laughed out loud so many times through the entire book... loved the story, the characters, and the narration!

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Rescue dogs, gruffly and stubborn characters in real life situations. Some of the character voices were quite annoying and at times like nails on a chalkboard, but all in all I enjoyed the book.

I enjoyed this story immensely having run my own dog rescue for many years it was very close to home. One of the voices did grate a bit at first but after a while is fine! Highly recommend:)
