Dang. I cried. this book was great. Set aside your frustration at not having the 3rd book and give this it's chance. It does give a great perspective from a Faye and give insight on what magic Kvothe will obviously master.

Narration Issues
Reviewed: 11-04-23
meh honestly the story and tone aren't any worse than the dungeon series. something about this narrator's exuberance irritates the crap out of me. and the male characters stay the same. this is book one though. I have my fingers crossed for the rest..

It’s not easy making the career jump from office-supplies-store middle manager to heroic interdimensional adventurer. At least, Jason tries to be heroic, but it's hard to be good when all your powers are evil. He’ll face off against cannibals, cultists, wizards, monsters...and that’s just on the first day. He’s going to need courage, he’s going to need wit, and he’s going to need some magic powers of his own. But first, he’s going to need pants.

Skeptical view

I was really annoyed with the MC at first, but he grew on me after his friends showed him around. I will say Shirty gets on a high horse a lot, and if you aren't open to ideological debates, you may be offended. Aside frome that, it has been well worth all credits so far. I suggest taking a chance on this if it isn't your usual thing. If you enjoyed the land you WILL enjoy this after a few hours of adjustment. 24 hrs of audio vs 10? yeah I'll take cheeky shirty and any flaw.

I can't believe life reset was written before this. it was much better (though still not that great). This sets plot was a broth (at best), "twists" were ridiculous, irritating, badly written, poorly thought out...you get it. There wasn't a single likeable character. all the dialog was terrible. This book depressed me for 45 hours please don't waste your time. listen to literally anything else. Jeff Hays couldn't even save this one. Bulko always whining then giving in was irritating and why does shemer make everyone say "boy" or "girl" after every statement. super annoying.

i really wanted to like this book. It's typical kong half book with kringy character. i cannot stand Luke Daniels narration though. the way he reads the prompts makes it so tough to be interested. in fact it's really aggravating. i was really glad when it was over. will return because of the narrator. pick literally anyone else Justin Thomas James Jeff Hays Vikas Adam.

This book is so good. it feels corny if it's your first litrpg but this is one of the best litRPGs I've listened to. the book is complete not a half story like the land and it feels satisfying to finish. i love the characters and have smiled and chuckled many times. the audio is excellent too. never really heard of the narrator before this but he was excellent. The characters vocals were well defined and the his voice was dynamic so you don't get put in a trance and miss the whole last minute of dialog. The idea behind the book/game is intriguing as well and how magic and skills are invented is really captivating.
