When the son of Baron Lothar Aquilena of the Border Princes is taken captive, he calls in a debt of honour owed to him by Duke Carrard of Quenelles – once his brother-in-arms and now his bitter rival. This uneasy alliance of warrior knights mounts a dangerous expedition into the lifeless desolation beyond the badlands to a forgotten realm cursed to know neither water nor shade. I’ve been a warhammer fan since I was a child. I have had a life long love of the setting. When I first saw this I was like I couldn’t buy it fast enough then I started listening…. There is a lot of female knights … women would make terrible knights why is this suddenly a thing. This story is trash it has no grit or emotion it seems made for a small child. This is everything wrong with warhammer.

Story
When the cultivators came to Earth, they destroyed our entire civilization in a matter of hours. Armies fell, cities burned, and that was before the moon turned red and filled our world with monsters. Now, over a decade later, what's left of humanity slaves under the heels of our Qi-infused masters. The luckiest of us might even become one of them, they say—if we serve the Dynasty well enough and harness the power of Qi. But I want none of that. I'm sick of serving, and I want nothing to do with their world. Instead, I want them to pay for what they did to mine.

Gotrex has always had a special place in my heart but I hadn’t been feeling the age of sigmar books. I think mostly because geographically it’s hard to understand where things take place and who the factions are anymore. However, this book does a great job of bringing someone like me back to the setting. I really enjoyed this book.

This book was really amazing. I went from not really liking the Dark Angles Lore and thinking the Lion was a mid-character to being completely awed by how well the character is written. Mike Brooks manages to make the Lion mature, intelligent, and oddly the most human Primarch. I'm REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO MORE BOOKS ABOUT THE LION.

This book is nothing more than the typical fevered mutterings of evangelical garbage. Filled with all the same inconsistent logic gaps that delusional people are highly susceptible to.
George Carlin:
Think about it! Religion has actually convinced people that there's an invisible man living in the sky who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever 'til the end of time! - But He *loves* you.

Look when I started to like the main characters, they all turned into Sociopaths at the drop of hat.
The women for the most part were annoying. The old people were cool. You would think that they would try to build a strong group by helping other survivors. Also you would think a police station would be filled with armed people who would level quickly and also be accustomed to violence and working as a unit … but I’m sure a random group of nerds can figure out how to power level.
