There are so many things I never thought of with regards to buying land, and this was incredibly helpful. At 3 hours, it's a short read, but densely packed with extremely practical considerations. Thank you!

Personal Development & Philosophy in a great story

So many of us go through a time of deep questioning around love, relationships, and whether we're doing things "right" in our 20s & 30s. This book felt a little bit like a personal adventure story and a warm pour of honest advice for how to move through life honoring yourself in all of your beautiful imperfections. The vibe of Los Angeles was almost like its own character in the story, bringing the narrative to life.

I enjoyed the story. Having spent a large portion of my time pursuing a creative life, there was so much that resonated. I also related to John Kim's snippets about his experiences with his parents--the complexity of multicultural, multi-generational communication.

There were so many practical tidbits about love relationships, that just aren't covered in school or discussed by friends and family. If you're someone who wants meaningful love but you haven't really thought much about who you need to be in that picture, this book might be helpful.

I wish I'd found a book like this when I was a creative person just getting out of college--but even today I really enjoyed it and will seek more from this writer.

I really appreciated that Faith Harper clarified at the start of the book, that this was going to be a casual presentation with swearing, more like hanging out with a girlfriend than attending a college lecture. As noted by other reviewers, there are a lot of "F-bombs" and emotional declarations that help lighten a deep topic. If you don't like swearing, you will not like this book.

The chapters review important topics like grief, depression, addiction, trauma, how the brain generally works, and modern holistic treatment approaches. I think Harper gives a good framework for understanding these topics, and anyone in a holistic or service based profession would probably benefit from this book.

One thing I didn't like was the poor quality of the audio recording. I really liked hearing Harper's chirpy realistic reading, but there were many instances of echoing on the soundtrack and audio glitches that were noticeable enough as to be distracting. "Is she sitting in a bathroom?" I found myself wondering. "Is she recording on speaker phone?"

That said, I would still listen. This book's approach was a refreshing departure from so many other books covering the same subject matter. I will likely explore more from her in the future.

This was my first book by the author and I really enjoyed it. Some reviewers have commented that this read as more of an outline, and that it was full of obvious truths, but I think sometimes that's exactly what is needed. i liked that the author took time at the very start of this short 1 hour audio to clarify what the book is, and is not. I thought he went into the perfect amount of detail for each point, with an example or two to clarify why these points were important. I like that he broke down how men might see things as opposed to a woman's general thinking on the topic.

The emphasis that these tips were based on high value relationship actions, was appreciated. I think this is a good audio for women who many not have real experience with, or example of, healthy long term relationships with men.

The only way I could imagine this book being better, is if it had been read by the author. The narrator did a fine job, but there's ja difference when the words are read with intention by the author. I tend to shy away from books not read by the author, but in this case I just listened on a higher speed and that worked just fine. I would listen to more from this author.

I was really looking for something bite sized and easy to move through, and this was it. Imposter syndrome can feel icky to face, and I thought this was the perfect length, with some great exercises and reflections to start wading in. I recommend it to anyone seeking an introduction to this topic as they peel back the layers. I also like "The Big Leap" by Gay Hendricks and I'd recommend the both of them as great tools for moving out resistance. This one to wade into the topic, the other one to go deeper.

I'll keep looking for more books about this. :-)

I like the premise of this book—that quitting is a great, necessary thing, as long as it’s with the right intentions. The first chapter is a casual romp through the mindset and examples of quitting. Listening, I found it a great way to reflect on my own life. The second chapter gets a little bit more concrete about the whens and the whys of the Dip. It’s a short read, perfect for anyone who feels stuck in their dreams, or who is contemplating quitting.

I have listened to this book two times, at different points in my life, and it has been so helpful. What I like is that Dave creates basic steps to get the reader from debt to true security. It’s a good overall snapshot of the mindset needed, and it makes sense to follow this book up with either his course, or with other books that go in depth on specific topics where needed.
