I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was full of intrigue, full of suspense. I liked the political framework. I enjoyed following this scrappy Secretary of State along on her intense adventures, and I very much appreciated this as a first fiction effort by one of the authors. Very much appreciated the narration as well. Just very well done. An enjoyable listen.

What a great story. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was very difficult to predict what would happen from point-to-point. Author Grant did a really nice job plotting this story.

Eeny, meeny, miny, moe. Catch a tiger by its toe. It's seared into Atlee Pine's memory: the kidnapper's chilling rhyme as he chose between six-year-old Atlee and her twin sister, Mercy. Mercy was taken. Atlee was spared. She never saw Mercy again. Three decades after that terrifying night, Atlee Pine works for the FBI. She's the lone agent assigned to the Shattered Rock, Arizona resident agency, which is responsible for protecting the Grand Canyon. Lived the story line, and the female narrator did a nice job. Male narrator always sounded like he was reading rather than engaged in conversation with the other characters.

After the first four or five chapters of this book I was getting a little angry. Couldn't put myself in the head space of the primary characters. But by the end of the book --just.wow. This story is like no other I've read / listened to before and I highly recommend it. EDITED: Just listened to it a second time, if that's any indicator.

Story
Sleep is one of the most important but least understood aspects of our life, wellness, and longevity. Until very recently, science had no answer to the question of why we sleep, or what good it served, or why we suffer such devastating health consequences when we don't sleep. Compared to the other basic drives in life - eating, drinking, and reproducing - the purpose of sleep remained elusive.

Loved, absolutely loved the way the author wrapped up this series. This last book was amazing. The switch into an unexpected narrator after all the narrator's before was interesting. I wondered why she did it, but then the perspective of the story told me everything. This was just a great way to end this series. Bravo, Cindy.

I thought I had an inkling about what this story by Shey Stahl would be about but I was a bit wrong. It is very well written. There are parts you will hate. There are parts you will be frustrated about but yet it's a beautifully written story. You should read it. Give it a chance. Narration lent itself well to the story also.

Story
Living the life most women only dream about, I was madly in love with my soulmate - Asher Valentine - amazing husband, loving father, and rock's favorite kick-ass frontman. A man who loved me every day, in every way, since we first met as teens. We were blessed with a beautiful daughter who was the light of our life. My all-female rock band was tearing up the charts. Then tragedy struck, and I lost it all. Now all I have is a stack of journals, an antique key, and a big black void where my memories should be. Used to be.
