I should have died. I should have been forgotten. But I didn't, and I wasn't.

Living the life most women only dream about, I was madly in love with my soulmate - Asher Valentine - amazing husband, loving father, and rock's favorite kick-ass frontman. A man who loved me every day, in every way, since we first met as teens. We were blessed with a beautiful daughter who was the light of our life. My all-female rock band was tearing up the charts.

Then tragedy struck, and I lost it all.

Now all I have is a stack of journals, an antique key, and a big black void where my memories should be. Used to be.

And I have him - this man with wild hair, tattoos from head to toe, a soft voice, and an even softer touch that gives me butterflies. He's clearly hopelessly in love with his wife. I'm told that's me.

But that wife is gone, and she took everything they once had, leaving me in her place. A broken replacement. A new version that doesn't quite fit.

I'm slowly falling in love with him, but will he ever truly love me? Or will he forever be in love with her, the phantom woman who haunts us both?

This is my favorite Carian Cole book. Asher and Ember are an awesome couple. I love how they are together.

Love this book

After listening to the first books in the Ashes and Embers series, I couldn't wait to hear Asher's story. He is the main focus, though lies in the background and his history with the others is what made the band. With careful thought and talent, Carian Cole has released this gem and we get to hear how it all started. We only knew Ember in a coma with the devoted husband by her side. Now we get to see where their future will go. As Ember wakes up, with no memory, these two take the journey of a lifetime. Not easy, not perfect, but always loving. I was not sure what to expect with this story, but I was blown away! Asher is incredible. He is loving, patient, devoted and never gave up. Ember is much more complicated. She has so much to deal with, plus the expectations of the people around her. I love the interaction of Tor and Kenzi too! After listening to Torn, it's fun to have the stories overlap. This is a beautiful story and I am so glad I grabbed this one!

The casting of these characters is perfect! Aiden Snow as Asher gives him that growlie, wounded sound. Asher is hurting and you can hear all the emotions running through Snow's voice. He is amazing. Ember's complexity needs a woman who understands all the emotions and Maxine Mitchell shines through the performance. I enjoyed this couple as they gave us their interpretation of Asher and Ember.

Worth the wait!

I have loved every word for this series and it is so fitting that today marks three years since this beautiful book has met the world. Throughout this series, we see Asher's love for Ember. He never gave up hope that Ember would wake up. But he struggles to accept that she isn't the wife he remembers. Ember has to learn everything again plus to know that the beautiful man who visits her every day is her husband. This book is a roller coaster of emotions from the beginning. But I loved seeing Ember accept who she is now. This is one series that I can't put down and will continue to revisit.

A beautiful end to this series.

🚨Spoiler 🚨

This was such a wonderful book! I was really looking forward to it because there are hints in all the other books that “something” happened to Asher’s wife but no one ever says what it is. It has had my interest peaked through out several books so i was very excited to get to this one and it absolutely did not disappoint!

Asher is such a good man and he just loves his wife beyond all words. Him and Ember have the kind of connection that people dream about. It is pretty heartbreaking to watch him continue to hope and wait and then have so many new exciting things happen only to be thrown one blow after another. Just when he thinks he could finally get his wife back then all these things just keep happening. I am not sure how he isn’t having mental brake-down. I am not sure if could hold out hope so long.

Ember has woken up to a nightmare. She has no idea who anyone is or even who she is. She doesnt even recognize herself in pictures or remember her child and husband. Then she finds she has been in a sort of coma for 8yrs and has to figure out who to trust and how to rebuild her life. She feels a connection to Asher but she just feels she is stepping in some other womens life and stealing her husband even though it is her life and her husband. She has to try to find a way to connect so she waits to Asher is out of town and makes some big changes and Asher completely finally brakes down. He soon figures out he is being silly and they work it out.

I am not at all describing it well but is hands down one of the best love stories I have read next to the Note book (By Nicolas Sparks). It really shows the true test and devotion of the human spirt to his twin flame. There were parts that just made you want to scream and rage for both of them for the sheer unfairness of the entire situation. You just keep thinking how much and Asher endured and then you count Embers discomfort and fear as well and it makes you want happiness for them so much.

A few side parts they had a cameo of Evan and Piper from No Tomorrow which is also from the same author. I really enjoyed that book so much, it’s on my list of all time favorite books. So it was a wonderful surprise to have them both show up in this book.

Then there was a strange character in this book i think he is called Everwood or something like that and he seams like a savior sorta and then another TBI patient and then a bad guy. It says in the book that he shot himself and survived and recovered and it made me wonder did he try to kill him self because he was a bad guy or did he become a bad guy once he messed up his brain with the shooting? I mean he clearly knew how to be a good person when he wanted to because of what he does to save Ember and then to help her later. It just left me with so many questions about him.

Over all this book just way blew past my expectations. We all should be so lucky to have a love like Asher and Ember. I will definitely read this again and i will for sure recommend it to others.

The Narrator’s did a wonderful job. The voices matched well and i just really enjoyed their telling of the story.

Not a lot of spice in this book till the very end. So if u like a lot of spice u will have to wait in it in this book.

Off to the next great book 📖

Great Stories

There is always a character that the reader links a series to and although Asher did not get his story told until the end he still had an impact on the rest of them. Just like fine wine gets better with age, so has Carian Cole. There is no fluff in this story. Every chapter, every conversation, every word spoken has meaning and brings this heart wrenching story to life. While listening I sighed with happiness, cried ugly tears to the point that my husband thought someone died and I had to put the audio-book down to regroup, but I also had the a-ha moments that connected items in other books in the series together. This audio-book had the highest of highs and the lowest of lows, but with every instance the listener is right there invested in his story and walks through the emotional journey. I can honestly proclaim this is the best audio-book of 2020. I only wish I could give it 5000 stars. As with the rest of the series I will be listening and reading this time and time again. Maxine Mitchell and Aiden Snow were Asher and Ember - perfect narrators.

Heartbreaking Emotional Ride

What a beautiful, emotional, sometimes funny and fitting way to end the A&E series. I read all the previous books and this is definitely Top 2!! (Talon is my Favorite) I loved how raw and real it was. Definitely recommend!!
