Publisher's summary

I should have died. I should have been forgotten. But I didn't, and I wasn't.

Living the life most women only dream about, I was madly in love with my soulmate - Asher Valentine - amazing husband, loving father, and rock's favorite kick-ass frontman. A man who loved me every day, in every way, since we first met as teens. We were blessed with a beautiful daughter who was the light of our life. My all-female rock band was tearing up the charts.

Then tragedy struck, and I lost it all.

Now all I have is a stack of journals, an antique key, and a big black void where my memories should be. Used to be.

And I have him - this man with wild hair, tattoos from head to toe, a soft voice, and an even softer touch that gives me butterflies. He's clearly hopelessly in love with his wife. I'm told that's me.

But that wife is gone, and she took everything they once had, leaving me in her place. A broken replacement. A new version that doesn't quite fit.

I'm slowly falling in love with him, but will he ever truly love me? Or will he forever be in love with her, the phantom woman who haunts us both?

Heartbreaking Emotional Ride

There is always a character that the reader links a series to and although Asher did not get his story told until the end he still had an impact on the rest of them. Just like fine wine gets better with age, so has Carian Cole. There is no fluff in this story. Every chapter, every conversation, every word spoken has meaning and brings this heart wrenching story to life. While listening I sighed with happiness, cried ugly tears to the point that my husband thought someone died and I had to put the audio-book down to regroup, but I also had the a-ha moments that connected items in other books in the series together. This audio-book had the highest of highs and the lowest of lows, but with every instance the listener is right there invested in his story and walks through the emotional journey. I can honestly proclaim this is the best audio-book of 2020. I only wish I could give it 5000 stars. As with the rest of the series I will be listening and reading this time and time again. Maxine Mitchell and Aiden Snow were Asher and Ember - perfect narrators.

Wow!! *Swoons*

What a beautiful, emotional, sometimes funny and fitting way to end the A&E series. I read all the previous books and this is definitely Top 2!! (Talon is my Favorite) I loved how raw and real it was. Definitely recommend!!

Wrecked

I went through it all with Ember and Asher as they pieced together their new beginning, struggling to find themselves again. This was a major rollercoaster in the best way which had a great flow of growth for all characters involved. Beautiful story of finding their forever together.

The best of the series

Wow! High praises, Cariann! The best of the series. Stumbled across this series. While each book was well written, THIS one is by far my favorite. I hope there’s a book about Redwood…

I look forward to reading all your books.

Favorite book of series

I loved everything about this book. The narrators brought this book to life. The other books were all right. but this was the best book ever listened to in a while. The characters went through so many emotions. The story was so soon worthy, but yet sad but with such a happy ending. I absolutely recommend this book.

WOW! A Fantastic And Well Written Story Read By Excellent Actors!

This is among my top 5 favorite audiobooks! Carian Cole takes us on a journey with highs, lows, love, fear, anger, despair and bliss. She took the time to develop the characters and the story in depth, which is a rarity. Aiden Snow and Maxine Mitchell have narrated many audiobooks together and they have great chemistry. Their acting and narration skills breathe life into the story with emotions, authenticity and chemistry that make the story a very special journey.

90% excellent until the end -spoilers

So we’ll written until the ending... it was as if the required word count was met then wrap up in ten words or less. Loose ends were left hanging and the medical end lacked reality and “I’m back” !?!? No incorporation of new experiences into self, just the deletion of the new. Asher grew and developed throughout then his involvement became getting sex like it used to be and looking only at old dreams. His self-learning disappears when she speaks one sentence. I’m so disappointed that a 5 star book tanked in the last chapter.

Breathtaking

This was my first experience with a Carian Coke book. Maxine Mitchell and Aiden Snow did a fantastic job narrating this beautiful story. It was engaging and heartbreaking. 10 years ago, my son and daughter in law were in a car accident that left her in a coma for six months. She did not recognize my son, or any of us when she woke. Her memories stopped somewhere near 6th grade. I wish I could say they had the happy ending that Ash and Ember experienced, but it was not to be. The story brought so many memories, both good and bad. It was beautifully written and truly touched my heart.
