Story
Women have been instrumental in the success of American cinema since its very beginning. One of the first people to ever pick up a motion picture camera was a woman, as was the first screenwriter to win two Academy Awards, the inventor of the boom microphone, and the first person to be credited with the title film editor. Throughout the entire history of Hollywood women have been revolutionizing, innovating, and shaping how we make movies. Yet their stories are rarely shared. This is what film reporter Alicia Malone wants to change. Backwards and in Heels tells the history of women in film in a different way.

At Oscars time of 2019, with no female directors nominated, this book is particularly relevant. The work is well researched, enthusiastically presented, thought provoking and of commanding interest to another TCM film geek!

Vulgar Soft Porn

With 3 hours left in the book I had to stop listening. Catherine Anderson is a good writer in my opinion, and I enjoyed another of her books. But this one— ugh. So much detailed gratuitous sex that is unnecessary. Very little legitimate plot. The chase and conquest is it hidden under the pretense of a disability. Not for me. Very disappointed.

This is a feel good book. It is well written and well performed. I could not stop listening. Spunky characters, snarky dialogue and a teenage boy to good to be true all make this a great listen’

This is an amazing book. It is extremely well-written and well Performed. It follows two sisters through decades of family drama, political upheaval and coming of age during a time of empty expectations and dramatic change. One of the best books of the year and a stellar performance.

With courage, grace, and powerful insight, bestselling author Kristin Hannah captures the epic panorama of World War II and illuminates an intimate part of history seldom seen: the women's war. The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France—a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women. This well-read story is the tale of 3 generations of women. Written with today's issues at the core, each woman tells her story from the media that relects her age.
A story of new love, lost love and found love, this book is a good time.
