Story
Working at Bliss, Sarah Harrison deals with all sorts of...interesting clientele. Yet no one sparks her interest more than Jared Gaines, the ultra-rich, ultra-sexy businessman who frequents her shop, buying delicate little “gifts” for the women in his life. But one day, Jared sends Sarah a gift from Bliss. Then another - and another. So when Sarah walks into his office demanding to know why, he makes her an offer she somehow can’t refuse: be his fake girlfriend for the weekend while attending his brother’s engagement party.

Terrible guy voice!
Reviewed: 02-16-22
When Sara speaks the guy voice, it is terrible! Ok story, rather predictable. The technical side was not good. It started over 3 times and I had to go find my place. It also wasn’t edited very well. Numerous places were duplicated sentences. Not impressed with this one.

Enjoyed it, but…

I’m working my way through all of Penny Reid’s books. She is really funny and I love that her books have LOL moments. I literally Laugh Out Loud! That being said, this book had that as well, and here comes the but…. I wish we would just leave the race issues out of it. She’s black. So what. Why make her being black so much of the story. I don’t care about what ethnicity she is. I just want a good, laughable story.

Story
Paint your toes. Pick up the wrong coffee and bagel order. Drive from Brooklyn to Jersey in traffic so slow you want to tear your hair out. It’s amazing all the useless things I can accomplish while on hold for three hours with customer service. Three hours when I should be getting the Date-in-a-Box website ready to launch at the big business expo in a few days. Except my shiny new website is glitching, and my inner rage-monster is ready to scorch some earth...when he finally picks up. Not the robot voice I expected but a real live human named Kal.

Story
It’s the most wonderful time of the year...but not for Maelyn Jones. She’s living with her parents, hates her going-nowhere job, and has just made a romantic error of epic proportions. But perhaps worst of all, this is the last Christmas Mae will be at her favorite place in the world - the snowy Utah cabin where she and her family have spent every holiday since she was born, along with two other beloved families.

In a world nearly identical to ours, the North won the Civil War, Ben Affleck is the sexiest man alive, and Russia never sold Alaska to the US. Instead, Alaska is a rough, beautiful country ruled by a famously eccentric royal family, and urgently in need of a bride for the crown prince. But they have no idea what they're in for when they offer the job to a feisty commoner, a girl who's going to need...The Royal Treatment.

The characters sound like robots
Reviewed: 10-04-20
It was so hard to get through this book, but I’m an optimist and kept hoping it would get better! Ugh! Through the whole story, almost everyone read like a robot! The story was really outlandish and absurd. Melanie can do much better for a story! Her other books were so good, but I was really disappointed with this one.

I liked this story, but the guy that narrated Will was really bad. His voice was stiff and forced, when this character should have felt tough and masculine. That part was a flop for me.
