Seeing Nassim Taleb's name attached to this book, I expected something educational.
Instead, it is an autobiography.

I can hardly put them down. Enthralling. Imaginative.
I will be sad once the last book is finished.

Slightly slow start, at least compared to the Bobiverse books.
But then it suddenly picked up, and I couldn't "put it down".

Really not much more to say. The book doesn't explain so much about the science of the dangers of sugar as it reviews the history and scientific treatment of sugar. But in many ways that is scarier than knowing all about the different effects sugar has on the body. However, you will get a good understanding of the biggest biochemical issues as well.

This book is even more interesting if you also read (listen to):

I couldn't put it down. I had to buy extra credits from Audible to get this last part of this trilogy, and I was not disappointed.

What about Ray Porter’s performance did you like?

I love the performance.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I would certainly have listened to the whole book in one sitting. I only paced myself so I could enjoy it over time.

Any additional comments?

I really hope Mr. Taylor is working on the next book(s) in the series. Can I pre-order now!?

What about Paul Michael’s performance did you like?

Great performance.

Any additional comments?

The book was great. As expected from Dan Brown. (I have read or listened to many of his books over the years.) And I have no intention of seeing the movie, as I am sure I will be disappointed. Even though, ironically, it was the movie poster that informed me about the book, and prompted me to read it.
On a deeper level, I notice that Dan Brown actually raises some very interesting issues through his books, including in this one.
A great listen. I was sad to have it end.

What about Jeff Cummings’s performance did you like?

The performance was very good.

Any additional comments?

As a software developer / "hacker" (as in "Hackers and Painters"), I was hoping for more information about how to increase my own performance, techniques for entering and staying in flow, and how to optimize this state. The book contained some nuggets relating to this. But there was to much "story" and stuff about athletic performance, and not enough "answers" for my use. However, it was still valuable, and I am investigating what else the author has to offer, as well as more on the topic in general.

Have you listened to any of John Lee’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I love the performance of John Lee. He speaks beautifully, in my opinion, and brings the characters to life.

Any additional comments?

I have previously listened to the Void Trilogies, and the lastest follow-up. But I loved that this book was a little more "technological" (less "magical"), and that it gave lots of good background to many of the characters and on the Commonwealth itself.
I downloaded the second book within minutes of finishing the first.

Where does Mastery rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

A fasinating book.
It both gives insight the lives of some significant people, you learn a bit of history, and it is even a good reference book.
I am buying this book in hard-cover - to keep and to re-read parts of from time to time.
