I’ve listen to these books on near constant repeat for the last two years during COVID, and I was so excited to listen to the last volume. The storyline finishes in an unexpected (kind of) fashion with opportunities for future novels or additions by different authors. It’s hard to know how to properly conclude such a detailed and epic story. Of course, there are plots and subplots that I wished the authors had explored further, but overall, I was pleased and excited about the conclusion. Need to listen again and again to pick out all the details. Now, stop reading this review and go finish the story! 😉

Yoga's popularity is soaring, but its widespread acceptance as an exercise for physical fitness and the recognition of its health benefits have not been matched by an understanding of the emotional, intellectual, and spiritual development that the yogic tradition can also offer. In Light on Life, B.K.S. Iyengar explains this new and more complete understanding of the yogic journey.

Delightful reading, story and insight

Sometimes a book simply touches the heart like no other. I’ve been listening to many Buddhist/mindfulness books recently, and on a whim (based on the interests of my roommate) I searched for B.K.S. Iyengar. To my surprise, I found this book and have now recommended it to my closest friend. As a yoga practitioner and medical professional, I find myself deeply moved by the penetrating concepts about the spiritual life of a yogi specifically and eight fold path. I hope to share this yogic wisdom with those I encounter on my journey.

Mesmerizing Read!
Reviewed: 09-10-17
Rarely do I post book reviews on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and other social media platforms because usually I'm entertained, but not moved by the content of a book. This novel, however, is completely different. The journey Vance takes the reader into the world of placebo effects, transformative faith healing, inner workings of the mind and memory construction is simply enchanting. So much so that I felt the need to regularly share updates on every social platform I have. Whether by design or coincidence, I was caught like a deep sea tuna by the narrative net of the prose. Outstanding first book for Vance! Highly recommended. (And the reader, Garcia, was delightful too. Good voice!)

One of the most significant books ever written by a head of state, the Meditations are a collection of philosophical thoughts by the Emperor Marcus Aurelius (121 - 180 ce). Covering issues such as duty, forgiveness, brotherhood, strength in adversity and the best way to approach life and death, the Meditations have inspired thinkers, poets and politicians since their first publication more than 500 years ago. Today, the book stands as one of the great guides and companions - a cornerstone of Western thought.

Penetrating understanding of humanity
Reviewed: 09-04-17
Aurelius' understanding of humanity and the cycles is incredible. Often as I listened to Steen read the chapters and words, I found myself thinking how similar the human struggle and condition is across the generations. It's refreshing to know humans struggle commonly and the solution is, commonly between us, available. Great book!
